Honestly I think we need this ad more. At this point our main objective is passive voters not die hards. We need to break through the bs and hit them emotionally. Also, a lot of die hards are reluctant to back RP because they think the Obama machine will play the race card on him; this ad makes him stronger in their eyes vs Obama.

Adherence to the oath is a great ad I love it, but I feel like the target audience for it is too stubborn to convert in large numbers which is what we need right now.

I WANT TO DONATE TO THIS AD, I'm throwing in $150 right now but can we organize a mini-bomb for this? Before Iowa?

Tearing up is a strength.
It's the weak that build a wall around their heart, too afraid to feel.
Funny, isn't it? How this bizarro world always tries to make it out to be some sort of weakness?
Down is up. Up is down.

This is such a wonderful ad.

Son of Detroit
12-28-2011, 10:25 PM
I have no sound on my computer. Can someone sum up the ad for me real quick?

The ad is centered around a man James, a black man, who is telling a story about when he took his wife, a white woman, to a hospital in the early 70s. He says they were being ignored by nurses and doctors despite his pleas for help, which he attributes to racism against interracial couples at the time.

Dr. Ron Paul "came to his rescue" and tended to his wife. After 10 min, she gave birth to a stillborn baby boy. Ron Paul told James not to worry about a bill, and that he would take care of it for him. He kept his promise, and James never got a bill from the hospital.

James goes on to talk about how Ron is a principled, honest man, and he is what America needs.

12-28-2011, 10:27 PM
This ad combats the racist charge, and the Adherence to the Oath ad refutes the soft on defense claim. Next we need an ad that explains how RP is going to help the poor, middle class, and elderly. That will be a lot harder because the lower classes are getting robbed by stealth (Federal Reserve sponsored bailouts, inflation, cooked inflation statistics, excessive gov't spending, etc.).

mosquitobite
12-28-2011, 10:28 PM
I agree, now we need an ad to win over the elderly in FL.

Rev PAC needs to set up a thermometer for this just like the super brochure people have. Get with RPF and DP to promote it...with a ticker.

Tell us how much air time each dollar donated buys..or some such gimmick..

If my girlfriends emotional breakdown (as well as my own lump in the throat) are any indication.....this ad will explode Ron beyond our imagination.

did u read my earlier post about setting up a thermometer like the super brochure guys have?

perhaps calculate an estimate cost per second of airtime in any given state... and donor can buy "seconds"....gimmicks like that are very effective..

also, if possible, briefly include the fundraising plea at the end of the TV ad.....maybe you can recover all or part of ur outlays and then run the ad infinitim

Does anyone think the ad is a little depressing because his son died? Am i the only one who heard him say that his son was "stillborn"?

To me, its not depressing. The fact that Ron tried everything he could when other people ignored the guy's plight, and eventually waved any fee for his services, speaks volumes and is uplifting.

If anything it proves that Ron Paul was there for them when they we're not only treated badly for the color of his skin, but also showed compassion when they found out the baby was stillborn.

It's sad really...can you name a doctor with that kind of compassion anymore? I've worked with a lot of obnoxious OB/GYN's and it probably would've been a joy to deal with him.

That was the best use of authentic people that I have seen in a campaign ad. The official campaign should run this ad if they can.

It seemed so unscripted. Like it was the gentleman's own words. Maybe they just let him talk, filmed it, and edited a little. Very sweet. Very telling. I wonder what your typical media newsletter critic would say about this?

Can the official campaign run the ad even though it was created by the super PAC (I don't see why not)?

I don't think so. They would have to compensate them for the ad, I think. It would be messy.

Can they purchase it from the super pac? Can the gentleman shoot another nearly identical video for the official campaign?

Very powerful. It appeals more than to those questioning his racism. It also shows integrity simply by putting up a middle finger to that rare strain of racists who the media loves to talk about as supporting him. It's a rare emotional appeal from the Paul camp. I think we'd see our "typical" demographic changing rapidly if we air this.

... And I'm not trying to sound like the biggest dick in the world..... but we're absolutely sure this story is authentic, right, and he wasn't compensated? We know the MSM will try digging into this guy's background, checking dates and trying to find out exactly where Paul was so they can try to discredit the ad.

Already in the works, hoping to have a ticker up by the end of the week. that's a long time! Tell us how much air time each dollar donated buys..or some such gimmick..

If my girlfriends emotional breakdown (as well as my own lump in the throat) are any indication.....this ad will explode Ron beyond our imagination.

Austrian economics and attack ads are great.......BUT IT IS EMOTION THAT MOVES THE MASSES!

We're working on both a :60 and a :30 cut for broadcast. Obviously want to use the :60 but it's 2x the cost to air.

We're working on an ad buy for NH starting early next week which will full saturate the state with a 60 sec cut of the Compassion ad.

Yes, the ticker goal is hefty. However if we can begin to approach it or even meet it, we can run the 60 sec Compassion cut in SC, FL & NV, and probably even a parallel run of a 60 cut of the Adherence To the Oath ad.

Please spread this folks. Busy busy.

Interesting, below was your first post after your three year hiatus from the Ron Paul Forums. (referring to Ron Paul's choice of people around him regarding the newsletters). Came back just to poke at the newsletters, and now at the ad, calling the person into question depicted in them, saying the ad is fishy?

When you say, "I am a Ron Paul supporter", I'm not sure you know what the word "support" means.

Won't he have to pick a few if he's president? That's not a ringing endorsement of the man.

Gary Franchi answers that on Alex Jones. Although I have a sneaking suspicion you won't believe what he says either. And in case you don't take the time to watch the whole interview, Gary explains how dedicated Paul's constituents are in his district. Ron Paul never took medicare or medicaid and never turned a patient of ANY race away because she couldn't pay. On a radio show when Ron was asked about this he said he didn't remember the specific incident, but that was just how he always practiced medicine.
