reorientation of all human society, unlike anything the world has ever experienced — a major
shift in the priorities of both governments and individuals and an unprecedented redeployment
of human and financial resources. This shift will demand that a concern for the environmental
consequences of every human action be integrated into individual and collective decisionmaking
at every level."

Board of County Commissioners in Carroll County, Maryland, recently voted to abolish the county’s Office of Sustainability, and then speedily followed that move with a vote to quit the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), the front group launched by the United Nations to carry out Agenda 21.
