View Full Version : PRIORITY #1: Register Republican so you can vote in your primary

Newbs and Olds: Ron Paul is running for the nomination of the Republican party. That means he needs people voting at the polls so he can beat out Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, John McCian, and Mike Huckabee. In some states this means you might need to register as Republican. Read up on your state, (http://www.primarilypaul.com/register/) if it is highlighted in yellow you need to check the little Republican box on your voter registration form. If it is highlighted in white, then you only need to make sure you are properly registered to vote.

It doesn't matter how many supporters Ron Paul has, it only matters how many show up at the polls for him.

This topic is not discussed enough even though it is of utmost importance. Ron Paul is NOT running for president, he is running for the nomination of the republican party. All the youtube videos, online polls, money, and blog postings won't win him the nomination. We need real people voting in their state's primary, registering as republican if needed beforehand.

Ron Paul's fate will not be decided on November 4, 2008 against a Democratic contender. His fate will be decided between January 3rd, 2007 and February 5th, 2008 when over half the state's hold their primaries with nearly all of them on February 5th. You need to make sure you can vote, check your state's laws:

http://www.primarilypaul.com/register/

If you're in an open primary state, you don't need to do anything other than make sure you're registered to vote.

If you're in a closed primary state, you must register as a republican. After the primary you can change back to whatever party you were before. It costs no money to be a republican and has no bearing on who you can vote for in future general elections.

Thanks for the reminder. I had the registration form sitting around, but hadn't filled it out yet. There's still plenty of time, but I might as well leave some cushion. This IS liberty we're talking about.

Form is filled out and will be in the mail tomorrow.

Bump because all the money in the world won't win Ron Paul the nomination. Registered voters and registered Republicans will.

This is critical. I know people from the college here who help us hold signs etc. but they have not registered to vote. They love Ron Paul but they keep putting it off. :(

Several of the guys from the college are confused because they are only living in AZ for school and they are not sure if they can register here. They won't research it. Another guy can't remember if he's registered in his home state or not. I keep telling them to figure it out because time is slipping away.

Once you register Republican - head over to http://goprising.com/ft/ - and tell all your friends you have registered Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul.

Not only can you spread the word quickly, others will see a Republican bandwagon building for Ron Paul -- and that will do WONDERS for us in the coming weeks. Many Republicans only need to see that other Republicans support Ron Paul - and they will join. We can show them.

College students usually register in their home state.

Register online (http://www.gop.com/RegisterToVote/)

and you should get mail/email confirmation - be sure you do and follow-up if you don't before state deadlines

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!

We want to win this thing straight up and avoid a brokered convention - we can do this together for liberty!!!

Remember that if you live in a closed state you must specify Republican to help Dr. Paul in the primary process. It will also be important as we work together to get the Republican party back to their own constitutional roots. Many leaders in the party want to do the right thing, we just have to give them some political cover. Many are beginning to change their rhetoric even as we speak. Keep up the good work all!!

It says that you can only request an absentee ballot if you've voted before. I just turned 18! I haven't voted before!

I have a question on something I'm confused about - changing your party to vote in the Primaries in various states --

If someone is already registered to vote, but needs to change to Republican, do they fill out a new Registration form or do they fill out the Party Affiliation Form?

For my daughter in NJ, the election people said just do the Party Affiliation form, and she did. But my daughter in Maryland, just filled out another Registration form to register Republican, and sent that in before the "closed" deadline in November.

So which form do you fill out to change parties -- will my daughter in Maryland be able to vote in the Primary for Ron Paul?

Thanks.

Lois

How can I follow up on the registration process? I've helped some friends and family register to vote but their cards have yet to arrive. I received mine from the same source, rockthevote.com.

Any info on this?

Every state is different in how they handle elections, voter registration and party affiliation. Some states you just fill out the voter registration form and check Republican, in other states there is a separate form. If you have questions or are unsure you should contact the SOS or elections office and make sure you or your daughters will be able to vote.

You might try posting this in the individual state forums, people there will know how their state's elections work.

rockthevote.com is an independent organization that registers people to vote so I'm guessing the card you got from them was just a confirmation card saying they have passed on your information to appropriate office. Each state is different in how they handle elections, your state might not send out a card. If you want to follow up you should contact your Secretary of State or Elections office and make sure everything is correct.
