I have a few friends that are really upset about the paul campaign claiming that the majority of the troops support paul. The claim is based off of contributions, and is similar to claims in the last primary. But the votes didn't come in. He got like 5% in the Fort Hood area. We need to get more Vets to vote for paul.

I'm in the navy and the majority of the people I talk to, e5 e6, all support Ron Paul. It's like with any citizen, the ones who actively follow what's going on in the world and educate themselves, they're the ones who usually support Ron Paul.

So how to GOTV with the troops. It's hard to do on base, since even asking about it can be construed as a vioaltion. Someone has yet to clearly define what I can and can't do under the Hatch Act or other such act. I know I can have a bumper sticker. I know I can't wear and RP shirt to work or a campaign button. I know that I can't have a photo of me and a candidate on the wall unless it was taken in the past before the present campaign. Seems I can't put lit at the library and I'm not sure about the USO. So people find out about me word of mouth and that's slow going. So, just saying, if you are on the PacRim and want a bumper sticker or something, let me know. PM me with your APO address and I'll get it to you. Is it okay for me to even do that?

While you are on liberty, you can wear a Ron Paul shirt. While you are out in town, you can campaign for Dr. Paul. You CANNOT endorse Dr. Paul while IN uniform, you CANNOT send campaign e-mails from your .mil address, and you CANNOT say (if active duty/reserve/IRR) that you are such and such rank of X branch of military, and that you support Dr. Paul.

Different bases have their own regulations as well. I know that on some USMC bases, people are not authorized to put signs in their yard for any candidate, while on others they are. I think a fact-finding and regulation hunt is in order. We need to find out what regulations each service has, and then what regulations each individual post has. Most bases have a website nowadays, and oftentimes have their rules and regulations online in PDF form (it is this way for most USMC bases).

I'm a Marine veteran, and I support Dr. Paul.

Cory,

He personally is against abortion, but wants it to be decided at the state level. He is against the federal govt making the decision, he thinks it should be decided on the state level. I'm sure you don't want to redo the video but I would be more willing to share it if you cleared that up, don't want to scare anyone off.

Keep up the good work,
Jeff
