We have a letterwriting campaign right now to Iowans who have registered as "no party". If everyone commits to writing 15-20 hand written letters, we can reach EVERY no party voter in Iowa!!

I've got the template letter and names. All I need is for you to send me a PM and I'll set you up. That's it. Help us win this important state!

I'm all about verifying anyway I can as well... Not sure how to verify it, but whatever system is come up with, count me in. This is a great and important venture.

When the time comes for Ohio, I'd be happy to assist then too. We should try this in every state we can. Independent/swing voters may be the key to this election!

I've been an Iowa resident all my life and currently attend the University of Iowa. Rather than writing letters, my goal is to personally follow the progress and engage in active discussion with at least 15 friends/aqaintances that I have lead on the Ron Paul trail. I will be their personal mentor regarding current events and campaign events to shed RP in the best light. Not only that, I choose to do so not by shoving him down their throats, but informing when applicable and encouraging their own research into his ideas and from which choosing the best candidate for them, Ron Paul or not. I'm supremely confident that if they are informed they will vote for Ron Paul, but if they choose not to, at least they are informed and that choice makes for a truly free society where everyone votes according to their own personal interest.

What you can do is type a letter up. You can preface it with
something like "my handwriting is really bad so I'm typing this
instead" or something. You can then sign the bottom and
handwrite the envelopes. Before printing each page, you can type and greet their
first name (Hi John,.....). And throwing in a slim jim wouldn't hurt.

A tip is to highlight Ronald Reagan, anti-war, conservatism, pro-life as this
Iowa poll reveals:

http://www.strategicvision.biz/political/iowa_poll_111407.htm

4. Do you favor a withdrawal of all United States military from Iraq within the next six months? (Republicans Only)
Yes 53%

A guy from California emailed me to say he would send addresses. I told him to send them on the our meet-up so we could all write letters but he replied he was not allowed to do that. So I responded go ahead then and just send them to me and I'll pass them along. Since then neither I nor the meet-up has received anything. ?????

It takes about 45 minutes total. I include my email and phone on the letters to follow up if they want more information. They really look great, personal and authentic. We need more support in Iowa!

If you read the beginning of this thread the approach WE are specifically taking is to handwrite the whole thing. This is going to make a much greater impact in my mind.

If you want to offer an alternative approach go ahead and do it, but get off this thread.

Not trying to be territorial, just I've got tons to give out yet and jumping in midstream makes it seem as though you are me, or I am you, and just confuses people.

Relax. It was a suggestion. The biggest hurdle is just getting the letter opened and the handwritten envelope was part of my suggestion. If it helps to get all 700,000 delivered in time (mix of handwritten and typed), then it's a small trade-off. Better to have all sent than some if there's a time crunch.

It's cool, you own this thread if that's the way you see it.. I understand the potential confusion issue. I just didn't see a need for multiple Iowa threads at first.

And those 20 can essentially be the same, just different greeting ("Hi John").

I include relevant websites for them to go to, videos of Ron Paul gets them sold (e.g. ronpaulishope.com, RonPaulispeace.com, freeme.tv)

Good tip on giving email/phone. I'll do that too.

Obviously you can approach it anyway you like, but I'm not so sure about giving them all types of websites to go to. Think 70-year old widow from Cedar Rapids who's receiving the letter.

I think sometimes folks who are really engaged with the Internet just assume everyone else is ... when really the majority of mainstream voters never use their computer other than at work. Stick with RonPaul2008.com and an email address. If they're that tech-savvy they will look for more.

I have done 10 already hand written is better than copys IMO. Any campaign can do copies we are the real deal. If llepard can put up an ad in USAtoday worth thousands I figure 15 bucks for envelopes, stamps and paper to contact an Iowa voter directly is doable for everyone here.

They will email you a template to give you an idea of the letter to write. Just one Iowa voter wanting to learn more about Dr. Paul will be worth it. Be honest( eg I wrote I was concerned with the economys future and a continued falling dollar) and dont write bad things about the other candidates. Most important make it personal so they dont get a feeling you are being paid to write the letters.

I am not a killjoy, but it is VERY important the validity and verification of those sending out letters is performed.

You know, I thought this over when we were talking about doing this for NH, and I'm not that worried about sabotage. I think the chances of someone going through all that work to do harm is small, and even if something like that did happen, it would be dwarfed by all the people doing it for the right reasons.

Being reasonably cautious is smart (like not posting the information publicly), but I wouldn't want us to hurt the project by being too careful and excluding a lot of willing volunteers. It is a bit of a gamble, but I am sure the odds are heavily in our favor.
