I'm just one of the random members in this forum thought of just saying an opinion, if it helps. I'm not as knowledgeable as others on Ron Paul.

As for storming off quits CNN interview:

- one can observe that wasn't even a proper studio or a formal TV format interview; impression of an opportunity taping that is more of a spontaneous questioning that Ron Paul was open to answer anything base on his honesty approach

- sneakily inserted (baiting Ron Paul) of making a million dollars on gold (but edited out his answers) to put him in light of questionable

- the racism segments and the closing of the interview were edited to put Ron Paul being hostile, but it did not have that effect due to Ron Paul's good nature and presence of mind

- the interviewer was baiting Ron Paul to have a more reactive reaction with the repetitive questioning of asking the same accusations three times but with different rephrasing (which he did clearly and objectively twice) and the third time was to make confusing insinuation to ridicule him. Even after she had been deliberately trying to manipulate him to react negatively, he remain dignified by just ignoring - despite what is obvious to him

- one very critical observation to the interviewer is her "incendiary" allegation to twist facts, again was another obvious baiting... and her reaction to Ron Paul moving on, was also unprofessional (which will lead to a bad incident if Ron Paul entertains her baiting - just like you do with throlls - which Ron Paul again with his presence of mind avoided the situation

- it was more like.....how attorneys in court would be leading the person by improper leading question and by badgering questions that assume facts but no evidence so can get a rousing reaction whereby leaves the observers a lasting negative impression

- another clever re-editing is that if you watch the entire interview, they were already wrapping up when he took off his microphone, handed it to the reporter's assistant and thanked the reporter. The Yahoo article is a spin and same with the CNN situation room program - with making a mountain out of an ant hill instead of going after congress who took lobby money to pass Indefinite Detention, Internet censorship copyrights and the kill switch for internet nor the fast tracking of 1 trillion congress deal.

Just saying

Paul said he occasionally read the newsletters, but that does not mean he read the ones in question. Will somebody please make sure this uninformed poster is aware of this by posting it to that forum/thread. . . I am not a member there and don't feel like handing out my email to every website out there.

Thanks!

I'm not going to help there...they don't have an issue about Ron Paul being racist at all.

They already don't like Paul because he isn't a bomb first ask questions second kind of guy...those people over there are not real conservatives...they talk about wanting to limit Government, but they have no problems with expanding military and protecting our citizens from themselves...so much for limited Government

Look folks...the people making a big deal about these newletter articles are the same people that didn't like Ron Paul to begin with...they just found a new reason to attack since the "isolationist" lines stopped working.

There is no need to feed into that.

take into account that in those days one couldn't possibly keep track of what was being written in a newsletter with their name on it when the newsletter was being written quite a distance away (i've read 1000 miles). with the absence of the internet this would've been close to impossible and one would have to rely on snail mail. forget the fact that he was practicing medicine and very busy due to that fact.

Ron Paul is running for president.
The newsletters that he didn't write, from the early nineties,
are not running for President. He's not applying for a job as an editor...

This is a Red Herring, don't take the bait! My advice is to steer the conversation back to the issues.

Don't say stuff like, "I'm not a racist."
Because when people hear that they attach the word racist to your face.
Remember, "I am not a witch."
Instead say something along the lines of, "My fight for the equal rights of all individuals, in and out of public office, is unparalleled. Just look at the voting record" Give examples of the work done to further the cause of liberty for all people regardless of color, creed, gender etc.

I feel the more we indulge the red-herring the fatter it will grow to be. I think Dr Paul has handled it well by not getting sucked in to the smear campaign.

Also, I just stumbled on this 1995 interview, where he mentions the newsletters. It demonstrates to me that he was unaware of the unseemly content that some of his ghostwriters were sneaking in there under his nose. If he had known, I don't think he would have been so eager to bring them up, considering that he was getting ready to run for office again.

Also at the time he was kind of burned out on politics after serving so long as a representative. He probably welcomed being a doctor again and being at his own home every night. I don't think he was thinking too much about politics at this time of his life, that is why he let other people manage the newsletters.
