Hey guys I can't take the photo down right now but I sent a message to Josh and he'll probably take care of it. If you want you can continue to post in this thread so the other thread doesn't get bumped.

also, if there is a concerted effort, we can bump any lower post than the peta thread up so that peta falls off the bottom. JUST STOP POSTING IN IT.

Good idea.

PETA sucks, they do bad things, probably more worst than people they hate.

Ya the 1 post 'PETA' made is the only one they'll make since they obviously did not come here for sensible discussion... just shock factor

Lets not jump to conclusions... it might not be a PETA person; it could be some dude that decided to be shocking on a political forum.

What's crazy though is that some people think animal rights should trump human rights.

help me push that peta thread to the bottom with the "guerrilla admin bump."

Just add a comment to any thread below the peta thread and it will get pushed off the bottom.

Most importantly, DON'T POST IN THE ORIGINAL PETA THREAD!

hopefully an admin will show up soon and fix this...

Is it possible to change the subject to add a "Warning: graphic content" or whatever? >.<

I wish I could but I don't have any way to do that (that I can see anyway). I PMed PETA and respectfully asked her/him to remove the image or put a warning on it though.

'PETA' is offline and won't be coming back online because they don't really care about the topic of discussion, they just wanted to impose their hatred on us.

I don't watch TV and I don't watch horror movies because I don't want the violence inflicted in my mind. As I was eating earlier, I was thinking of the eyeball of the cat, and could hardly stomach my food. This is why I choose to avoid visually exposing myself to uncontrolled and unnecessary violence. Simply because it's senseless and pointless.

The only thing that changed as a result of me seeing the picture was the image of the picture etched into my visual cortex. I like to control the level of violence and gore that goes into my brain. In other words, I keep it to a min.

Therefore I am offended at the picture for being misleading, senseless, and against my personal beliefs (Although I don't expect anyone to understand this about me, it is the reason I am upset).

To imply that the picture did anything but inflict violence in my brain would be completely foolish.

This in the holding bin now offline. Thanks for the flags.

If there is a serious reason to post to something that is of a graphic, offensive nature (ie: might make someone punk)- it should be linked to and not be embedded and there should be an obvious warning before the link.

So back to the topic, I haven't seen much of anything of Ron Paul's position on the subject; BUT, being a doctor, I can't seem him being a cruel person that takes any form of life for granted. And as I said in the other thread; he is a Vegan, is that for health reasons only?

As a doctor, he probably does support animal research. Oh well. It's not a perfect world.

If Peta had their way, nobody would have housepets because they think it's a violation of their rights. Note that in addition to being silly, this would mean the extinction of domestic ferrets, which basically don't live in the wild anywhere more.

My dogs probably have more rights in this house than I do.

PETA the origination is ok with pets and they don’t see animals as equal to humans... what they are against is cruelty to animals and the ethical treatment of animals (i.e. don't torture your food before you eat it). Some of their members are a little far out there but every group has its fringe... we do as well.

There are other groups that sometimes get mixed in with PETA’s philosophy. For instance, PETA is ok with euthanasia and humane population control. They feel that an animal would be happier dead than living in a shelter for the rest of its life. ALF and ELF are the organizations that think animals are equal to humans. They are the ones burning the SUV lots and construction property. Some members of PETA are also a part of ALF and ELF.

Some of my best friends are animal rights activists and are more concerned with ethical treatment than any of the more controversial issues that are brought up. I think we call all agree that animals shouldn't be tortured and should be in good health before slaughter. If anything it makes us healthier.

Are you sure Ron Paul's vegan? The only place I've seen that was in a Spoof article about him: http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s2i18411

I think the only vegan in the race is Kucinich: http://kucinich.us/issues/rightsanimal.php

According to Kucinich (last paragraph in the page I've linked):
"As a member of Congress, I have cosponsored every piece of major animal protection legislation. In addition, I hold the distinction of being the only vegan in Congress. I made this lifestyle change many years ago, because I consider all life on our Earth to be sacred. As a vegan, I choose not to eat any animals or animal products. I strive to live my life in accordance with my convictions, and any other choice of diet would defy my ideals and, in my judgment, be hypocritical."
