We have threads to help us convince people the surge isn't working, but how do we combat stories like this?
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/08/world/middleeast/08iraq.html?ex=1352178000&en=f9d310d7895a8fea&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

Obviously the neocons are peppering the media with reports thta the surge is working, which doesn't help us. How can we turn this on them?

Also consider this. So far there has only been a single month drop in casualties.

Notice the graph. There have been other one month drops as big as this.

Ummm...Wait. Are you suggesting that the Surge is NOT working? How about sticking to the basis that, working or not, it is an illegal action? Using an uzi in stead of a pistol in a robbery may WORK better, but, does it make it any more legal?

The other side of the 'surge' is that it adds to the costs. But, I would be VERY careful about going against the surge unless there is real evidence that it is not working. I support Ron Paul and I believe that the surge IS working and was the best decision to make, if you are going to stay there.

It comes down to this, if we are in it, we need to be in it to win it. However, it was not legally authorized to be war and, as such, we should come home. Quit breaking the law, even if you ARE doing it effectively.

Well so far there isn't any real evidence that it IS working. One low month does not a trend make. I hope less U.S. soldiers die. (Frankly I would prefer a rate of zero which will only happen when we are no longer there.) Also it's really not accurate to ignore other factors not related to the surge when judging it's "success". General Petraus is on record as saying what happened in Anbar province has NOTHING to do with the surge. Also the Madhi army standing down had NOTHING to do with the surge. But beyond that you have a solid point. We really have no business in Iraq at all.
