Obama? Young people are idiots. I'm so ashamed of my age bracket.

There are idiots in every age range, but I'd say the young people are Ron Paul's largest demographic of support. Those 24% who voted for Obama will probably grow up to vote for the latest Rudy McRomney candidate anyway.

I'm more ashamed of the older generations...they helped get us into this mess, supposedly have 'wisdom' on their side, and STILL vote in large numbers for Rudy or Hillary or whatever corrupt/authoritarian candidate is thrown at them.

No offence intended to anyone on this forum, but I have trouble seeing how this was all allowed to occur for so long. (sorry, just venting....I know this generational collectivism is exactly what TPTB want us to engage in, but I had to get it off my chest).

People who were aware of it, simply didn't vote! This is why I think our (the revolution's) greatest demographic are those who've never voted. They haven't voted because they know it's been corrupt. Let's change that!

What's going on with that Facebook poll is actually a huge deal. The poll moves very, very slowly. I've been watching it since June, and the order of the candidates has never changed, and the percentages have never fluctuated by more than a point. All through the summer, Ron Paul fell further and further behind Hillary (in number of votes, the percentages stayed constant), but in the last two weeks, he caught up and then surpassed her and is now within striking distance of Rudy! I hope what this means is that we are really starting to get the message out more broadly to college students (the main users of Facebook), and are peaking their interest in Ron Paul at exactly the right time.

IT'S FREE AND EASY TO REGISTER FOR FACEBOOK! You don't have to be in college either, I got my dad to sign up and he's actually gotten back in touch with some old colleagues of his through it. Social networking sites are an excellent medium to promote Paul.

It's not all their fault. Our education system doesn't teach people anything, and the media encourages people to be complacent. These are a few obstacles that RP supporters have to overcome when convincing people that RP deserves their vote. That being said, we've done a superb job in bringing all the new people into the campaign, and we need to keep it going.

This is an absolute coincidence, but I just added this feature to my Facebook page today before I even registered here.

And I think a big part of Obama's appeal is his positive message, which I can understand and appreciate (it's also a big part of Paul's appeal). I just hope that and his policy positions are the reasons, not his race or age.

There is another election app on Facebook that was made by Facebook itself: the US Politics app. It has a lot more info available under the Election Pulse section about the demographics of supporters such as age groups, state residence and gender.

Here are the popularity of candidates based on party:

Facebook Supporters* ABC News Poll**

Democrats:
Barack Obama 58.78% 26% (161,435 supporters)
Hillary Clinton 18.75% 49%
John Edwards 8.53% 12%
Dennis Kucinich 5.43% 2%
Bill Richardson 2.68% 2%
Joe Biden 2.53% 3%
Mike Gravel 2.53% NA
Chris Dodd 0.78% 1%

Republicans:
Ron Paul 34.09% 3% (37,652 supporters)
Mitt Romney 18.73% 11%
Fred Thompson 16.76% 16%
John McCain 11.76% 19%
Rudy Giuliani 8.65% 33%
Mike Huckabee 7.99% 9%
Thomas Tancredo 1.02% 1%
Duncan Hunter 0.88% NA
Raymond Mckinney 0.11% NA

* Based on number of supporters each candidate has on Facebook
** ABC News/Washington Post National GOP and Democratic Primary polls respectively among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents (+/- 4.5% margin of error) and Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents (+/- 4% margin of error). Reported 11/1/07. More info here.

Most polls have pretty much gone by the wayside.
This one here I hear is significant and since we are only 40 votes away, why not 'hit it til' we get it'?
