$4 million and leading Iowa by three points. The media obviously does NOT want to cover this tomorrow. So let's help them out with some headlines they can use to avoid revealing reality:*

* If you actually have a good idea for a plausible headline, keep it to yourself...we don't want to give them any ideas!

I'll go first:

NEWT LOSES GROUND TO ROMNEY IN IOWA

As Gingrich loses points in the latest Iowa PPP poll, Romney continues to hold a strong second to Ron Paul, who, if declared winner of the Iowa caucuses, will cause the GOP to reconsider the state's importance in the nominating process.

"In a surprise, Ron Paul takes the lead in Iowa according to the latest polls. However, many experts are reminding us that winning Iowa in a primary election does not mean much when it comes to getting the nomination for president." This will be the spin in the news. Yes, Ron Paul is ahead, but Iowa means SHIT. Yeah, right.

Gingrich losing support; Romney gains.

AP

Having been the target of a series of attack from both conservative columnists on the right as well as from second tier candidates such as Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich has seen his polling numbers slip dramatically in Iowa even as he retains a small national advantage over Governor Mitt Romney in the latest round of polling.

With the newest polling indicating a Romney surge, conservative commentators suggest that the Republican Party may finally be embracing Mitt Romney as the candidate they knew they would select all along.

Says one talking head, "While Mitt Romney has made mistakes in the past, he would be a vast improvement over Barack Obama, and can unite the Republican Party as a series of high profile endorsements has revealed. He can lead us to victory in November and represents a clear alternative to the current regime."
