Good point. No matter who the hell the 'next' President is (after RP). They can't pass anything unconstitutional! This has to be seriously the most important time for RP to win.

can someone explain to me how we know there will be 4? Did these 4 judges say they will be retiring?

He's just guessing. Judges have life appointments, and no retirements have been announced. And its common for judges with ideological differences with the president to "hold on" until an ally is in the office. There very well could be 4 new appointments, or there could be 0.

I dont think Romney's privy to any inside information. What he's trying to do is scare people into thinking that if Obama wins, he'll nominate 4 radical anti american commie judges, and therefore everyone should support him (Romney) despite his record because at least he's not Obama. Ignore him.

I think if there is a republican president, Kennedy and Scalia will retire, if not they will stay on (unless they die). I have a feeling we might see Ginsburg and Breyer retire after this term, so Obama can pick their replacement. Well Ginsburg definitely, I can almost guarantee it.

It's Romney's way of attacking Ron on the sly.

He is subtly suggesting Ron will die in office due to age

What kind of justice would Ron appoint to the Supreme Court? Has he ever named any individuals? I'm concerned that if he appointed a "libertarian" to the court, it could be a pro choice libertarian who believes that there's a right to an abortion in the Constitution.

Oh, how I wish Paul gave this answer last night:

Which SC Justice is your favorite?

Judge Andrew Napolitano.

No, Mr. Paul, we said Supreme Court Justice. Judge Napolitano isn't on the Supreme Court.

Well, he should be.

I HIGHLY doubt a man as staunchly pro-life as RP would appoint a pro-choice justice.

He would choose Napolitano for sure.

I think Napolitano would be his VP choice.

This is a really important issue I haven't seen discussed on the board yet.
The ability to appoint judges carries more long term weight than even two terms in the whitehouse.

Who would be 4 good picks?

At 61, Judge Nap is too old.

Because we know that Romney will pick hardcore conservative judges....right?

This talking point will reach hysterical proportions after the primaries are over.

SCOTUS judges are notoriously healthy and usually wait a long time to retire. Souter was the exception.

I'd personally love to see Thomas Woods on the supreme court.

Janice Rogers Brown FTW.

The sticky wicket would be finding an appointee who could get through the confirmation process.

It's a very partisan process.

"The truth is that the judge who looks outside the Constitution always looks inside himself and nowhere else."
-Bork, who was not confirmed

Pro choice should not even be an issue, what another person does is none of your business and people are not your property.
