the icing on the cake is that bachmann mentioned politifact in the debate when it was convenient.

Regardless, did she not say that verbatim tonight as well? So this means this is the 3rd time she has said it.

Yep, she is horrible. Its politicians like her that are so damn dangerous. She is know for twisting facts and distorting truths, her own staffers who quit on her some months back said that too, in TV interviews. Pff....

The fact that Bachman doesn't even know that the IAEA is a UN Agency sinks her credibility. Nevermind the fact that she's wrong.

That was the Nov debate where she said something similar. The one from tonight I posted in another thread, though.

So this*raises the question.. what exactly did he want "wiped from the map"? The answer is:*nothing. That's because the word "map" was*never used. The Persian word for map, "nagsheh", is not contained anywhere in his original farsi quote, or, for that matter, anywhere in his entire speech. Nor was the western phrase "wipe out" ever*said. Yet we are*led to*believe that*Iran's President*threatened to "wipe Israel off the map", despite never having uttered*the words "map", "wipe out" or even "Israel".

Another important point about Ahmadinejad's statement is the context. He compared the untranslatable condition that he was referring to to the fall of the British Empire and the collape of the Soviet Union. So he was saying, in effect, that Israel will disappear, but it will be their own doing, not Iran's.
