I remember December 16th, 2007 very well. I was at the tea party rally at the Santa Monica Pier with over 1000 of my closest friends, at one of the many original "tea party rallies." We raised over 6 million dollars for the Ron Paul campaign in a single day. The modern tea party meme as a protest against big government was born. Rand Paul addressed one of the tea party rallies that day, and the tea party movement eventually catapulted him to his own political life.
A year and a half later, the tea party rose again, as a protest of the bailouts and other big government abuses. Originally, it was a fairly focused movement of protests across the country for liberty. As the months wore on, it became adapted by neo-cons who would rather vote for any pro-war, anti-civil liberty candidate over Ron Paul. They have turned it against Ron Paul and his movement, claimed it as their own, and have NEVER given us credit as the creators of the Tea Party Movement. But all is not lost...
In a few minutes... WE TAKE BACK THE TEA PARTY!!!
That is the significance.
