View Full Version : Does anybody remember the O'reilly/Stossel bet?

About 5-6 weeks ago I believe.
O'Reilly challenged ,with the most arrogant, self assured tone a Stossel defending the reasons for Ron Paul,as a way to avoid Stossel actual points and topics:

" I guarantee..I GUARANTEE YOU..Ron Paul will not win a single state!
Do you want to bet a thousand bucks?!"

Stossel:
"Sure, I 'll take it"
..and they shook hands on it.

Is he going to pay him right there,in the "total spin zone"?

Is Stossel going to have to remind him?

One thing for sure:
It will be one hell of a fun day.

Oreilly will just batter Stossel with an umbrella, and then claim that Stossel assaulted him.

So a newscaster has a financial stake in making sure a candidate doesn't win a state. Sounds real fair and balanced to me.

Somebody should remind Stossel.

I was going to start a new thread. Anyone have the tube? I think they bet $1,000 or something.

O'Reilly, if/when Ron Paul wins Iowa: "I meant a primary, not a caucus."

Are you being serious? O'Reilly's bias has nothing to do with a thousand bucks. He probably makes that much in 30 seconds. He just hates Ron, but has nothing to do with financial incentive. A thousand bucks...yeah I'm sure O'reilly will be crying.

O'Reilly, if/when Ron Paul wins Iowa: "I meant a primary, not a caucus."

That would be hard to do with a video showing him saiyng:
" Not a single STATE"
If Ron Paul wins Iowa he IS going to pay him and "smile " about it..

They bet to a charity for veterans I believe, but yeah I've never forgotten that bet...and Ron's best chance is Iowa.

If O'RLY has to pay up he will not simply admit he was wrong, he will throw in a qualifier like "Okay he got lucky , but he still is not blah blah blah." He's so full of shit you can smell the stink through the screen.

"Best chance?"
I say conservatively and realistically Ron has a chance to win half of the states,if Perry had to drop out before Texas, for example i know he would win that and others..

Iowa just happens to be the state where we did campaign seriously so far

If he really does that..good..nobody likes a sore loser.

I do not remember the charity detail, thought it was a personal, direct, very quick, straight bet.
I might be wrong

good ,it looks better.
He might double on it after Iowa IF he is a really ignorant fool.
we know Ron WILL definetely win some other states

Actaully the whole " he cannot POSSIBLY win any single state" would look like an ignorant, losing proposition even if we did not win Iowa now, just by looking at the polls he is already wrong.
the whole idea, the message was that of a candidate who could not possibly get 20% in ANY state.
But we are already there in the ONLY two states where we campaigned

Honestly, they should continue that bet throughout the campaign season. Let them bet on New Hampshire. If Stossel loses a few, that's fine. It would get some good press.

The point is that O'Reilly is a cold hearted bastard, the type of guy who I don't think has any fun. If they could make this into an ongoing joke, with a charity making lots of money off of the process, it will lighten him up a little.

If I were John Stossel, once Ron Paul wins Iowa, I would take O'Reilly's money and donate it to Paul's campaign in O'Reilly's name. :D

Technically O'Rielly does say "primary"...though I think he would count it if Ron wins.

LOL

And...if you listen carefully he said "I will donate more than a thousand bucks"
