Please, please, please be prepared for the amount of traffic the site will experience at certain times tomorrow. Do everything in your power to prevent the site from crashing this time. We don't want the campaign to lose $ and I'm sure you feel the same way. Thank you. :)

I hope it doesn't crash this time around :(

It's really hard to say whether there is much the campaign can do. They probably rent their servers, so it would be up to the company they rent them from to keep them up.

They probably control the software and that's where it fails, I'd guess. There's a lot they can do. The problem is this high traffic is only occasional, so it's a bit harder to prepare for it - just like sites failing after reddit/slashdot post which generates unusally high volumes of traffic.

Yea, no kidding.

The multi-hour stall in the donations during BTO took some wind out of our sails. :(

Anyways, I'll be contributing $750 tomorrow. I'll be maxed out at that point (if I added correctly).

To prevent problems, those of us on rpf should try to donate early, before the high traffic hours (after work)

Good idea, we shouldn't go on there tomorrow.

Do we have a counter or graph on another site to watch?

Speaking as someone who operates an IT and web applications development firm, there's no limit to what they could do. You can put in as many fail-safes and backups as you want. The hardest part is making the donation site capable of running in a scalable way, like on a gridserver or some other setup. Once you've done that, you can add as many fail-overs and such as you want, and the cost of going overboard with that stuff is pretty negligible.

donate at midnight :)
That'll do two things: bring overall traffic down over the entire day AND there would be a bigger number right off the bat to get people excited!!

The question isn't if they know what they are doing or not, they do, but the question is, if we are attacked, how quickly will they be able to sort it out? Given the practice of earlier Money Bombs I think we'll be ok.

Agreed. Please stay off the site entirely unless donating.

This is one of the two reasons why I'm donating at midnight.
