Have people really thought about this, I don't think they have.
Let's say three years into a Paul Presidency when many bases have been closed and the troops have come home, some crazy country tries something really stupid to test Paul. He goes to Congress as he always said he would, to see what they want to do, and they issue a declaration of war. Suddenly, constitutionally every available resource of the US military would be directed at that conflict not spread out all over the world like they are today.
As Paul has said he would tell the Joint Chiefs to it win it as fast as possible, and he wouldn't tie there hands, they would be given maximum firepower to achieve their goal, not like Vietnam or even Korea. And other countries having seen the dove like approach America had taken in the within the Paul Presidency, might just jump in and help which would mean pretty much the whole world, offering help, and it might not be military help, passage though there country or a temporary 6 month base. But basically whatever country and it's leader would try anything so stupid against America would be instantly screwed.

And that is why Ron Paul has repeatedly said no country is going to attack America, and he is right.
His foreign policy is actually the strongest, not the weakest.

We certainly have no threat of invasion. We have thousands of nuclear warheads + 50,000,000 gun owners.

The only threat we have to fear is a terrorist attack, and if we implement Ron Paul's foreign policy changes, it will decrease resentment among Muslims and we'll go back to leaving each other alone. Furthermore, if we can show foreign nations that we have indeed adopted a peaceful foreign policy, they would be more likely to offer assistance in tracking down terrorists in a judicial (rather than militaristic) manner.

We had support and sympathy from many nations of the world after 9/11, but Bush squandered it when he started shooting first and asking questions later.

How awesome would it be if Ron said this during the debate. That would shut all the doubters up.
