The latest prominent conservative to be awakened to Presidential Candidate Ron Paul is shock jock talker Michael Savage. The hugely popular Savage had dismissed Ron Paul as a lunatic in the past but after Paul's debate performance in Iowa on Saturday, Savage now believes Ron Paul would be a refreshing alternative to the other candidates (see video). Savage can now imagine Congressman Paul as Vice President of the United States. This is quite a departure for the highly opinionated and popular Savage who is a well-known war hawk and strident traditional Conservative.
Savage apparently has some followers in Iowa because the latest poll from Iowa is showing Congressman Paul in a statistical dead heat for first place with Newt Gingrich. In the PPP results, Gingrich's negativity ratings are declining while Paul's favorability ratings are climbing.
This announcement from Savage comes a day after fellow talker Glenn Beck announced that he would consider voting for Ron Paul over Newt Gingrich.
So far the Conservative Establishment talk radio trilogy of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin are holding firm in their objection to Paul. It remains to be seen if their opposition can hold as more and more of their followers become supporters of Congressman Paul.
