Two new polls today, suggest that Ron Paul is closing in on Newt Gingrich in Iowa and New Hampshire.

A new PPP poll reports that Ron Paul is at 21 percent in Iowa, close behind Gingrich who polled at 22 percent.

Morning Joe stated this morning that Gingrich "peaked" three weeks too early. This could be Ron Paul's time. Get ready for the attack dogs to be unleashed....

Yep... seems it could get pretty ugly from here on out. I imagine the opposition (media) will pull out all the stops on this.

This good news calls for a song I do believe, because love is what we all got in this Revolution!

I picked up a Revolution bumper sticker yesterday from our new Johnson County, Iowa HQ. Thanks all you Hawkeyes!

And indeed, they would be right. It is a step in the right direction but hardly a springboard to the presidency.
Just as a reminder of the 2008 results and who ended up winning the nomination for the Republicans:

2008 results:

Mike Huckabee (34.36%) with 40,954 votes (where did he end up?)
Mitt Romney (25.19%) with 30,021 votes (again)
Fred Thompson (13.39%) with 15,960 votes (look above - again)
JOHN McCain (13.03%) with 15,536 votes (the eventual nominee)

So YES, winning IOWA (especially for Ron Paul) is HUGE. But it's only the beginning.

In Ron Paul's case, I think it means more because NOBODY in the lamestream media expected this but they probably WILL play it off. A bigger test will be how he performs in NH. If we wins or finishes second then he's got a real shot. John McCain finished FIRST in NH in 2008 in NH and was the eventual nominee. So right after Iowa, the campaign needs to hit NH HARD. Actually, they should be doing that now.
