I'm searching "opposing candidates" for detailed "dirt on Romney" with references and it's sorely lacking. All the talk is about other candidates. Just like Romney "laying low" during the campaign -- he's "laying low" on this forum as well.

I think Newt is falling and it's time to get to work on Romney -- whether he's in the news or not.
I can vaguely cite Romney's past, but I want references and backup.

I'll start with some dirt -- appreciate contributions -- with REFERENCES

ROMNEY'S 2012 PLAN CUTS MEDICARE--Ron Paul’s plan cuts $1 trillion the first year & balances the budget in 3 years. The plan cuts spending by ending the costly foreign wars, and cuts foreign welfare, corporate welfare, and overgrown federal bureaucracy. These cuts are made so that those who are dependent on domestic spending programs such as Medicare aren’t endangered through a sudden change in benefits. Romney’s plan cuts Medicare, on which many elderly Americans rely. (NEED REFERENCE)
---------------
In October 2002, campaigning for governorship of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney said he would “preserve and protect” a woman’s right to choose. He now describes himself as opposing abortion.
----------------
Romney issued at least 189 one-day special marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2005. He likely issued a similar number of licenses in both 2004 and 2006 but the state records for these years are not easily available. One-day marriage licenses are in effect permits issued to a couple allowing them to designate anyone they choose to officiate at the wedding. These special one-day marriage licenses are not to be confused with the thousands of regular marriage licenses granted to same-sex couples by Justices of the Peace and town clerks by order of Governor Romney in the aftermath of the Goodridge same-sex marriage decision.

More than any other action by Romney, these special licenses demonstrated where his heart was on the same-sex marriage issue since they were purely discretionary. There was no mandate forcing Romney to issue such licenses. This calls into question his authenticity as an alleged social conservative candidate. http://www.romneyexposed.com/2011/10/04/romney-personally-issued-marriage-licenses-to-189-same-sex-couples/

Thanks -- it's slow-picking, but I'm working on my "cheat sheet of cut and paste facts" If you see anything wrong or that I should stay away from -- say so.

Mitt Romney spent nearly $100,000 in state funds to replace computers in his office at the end of his term as governor of Massachusetts in 2007 as part of an unprecedented effort to keep his records secret, Reuters has learned. http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/...7B500X20111206

Solid Reasons why Mitt Romney won't win!
1. Obamacare was modeled after RomneyCare in MA
2. As governor he hiked taxes, fees and fines dramatically
3. Romney as governor increased spending by 20% in 2 years!
4. Al Gore praises Romney for being a global warming believer
5. Supports Cap n Trade, a policy that would devastate America
6. As governor came in second to last in the country for job creation
7. Supports TAARP
8. Flooded MA with liberal democrat judges
9. Believes in Amnesty for illegal immigrants
10. Received advice from Obama's Science Czar Holdren on Global Warming and mandatory abortions.
11. Supports limiting the 2nd amendment via gun control legislation
12. Was "more pro choice than Ted Kennedy" before he was prolife, which is/was it?
13. Was for gay marriage before he was for civil partnerships.
14. Set up a 527 committee funded by GEORGE SOROS (puppetmaster)
15. Raised more lobbying funds that the whole GOP combined!
16. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, BOA, JP Morgan, Citigroup, give him more donations than Obama, and don't forget, Banks made more in 2 years under Obama than Bush's whole presidency! Who will he be beholden to? We know that answer!
17. Endorses anti-union laws (middle America won't like this)
18. Working at Bain Capital, he stripped company of their assets, sold them off, and fired workers in masse!
19. Like 2008, his support is capped at 20%
20. Hurts pro-family causes with legislation and appointments
21. Provided Taxpayer-Funded Abortions for copay of $50.
22. Since the bill became law, the state’s total direct health-care spending has increased by a remarkable 52 percent. Medicaid spending has gone from less than $6 billion a year to more the $9 billion. Many consumers have seen double-digit percentage increases in their premiums. Could you or America afford this?
23. Has yet to sign the Susan B. Anthony List pledge to defend life and defund Planned Parenthood nationwide
24. He believes in CORPORATE PERSONHOOD, "corporations are people too"
25. He flip flops so much, shares the same donors and advisors as Obama, he is definitely a RINO, trying to continue what Barack Obama has done to America.

John Holdren, now President Obama's assistant for science and technology, once advised GOP presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney on environmental policy. Mitt Romney

Cato Institute says: "Mitt Romney decries the excesses of ObamaCare, yet refuses to admit that the plan he championed in Massachusetts provided Obama with a model. In key areas, the two plans are essentially identical. Cato Institute Executive Vice President David Boaz and Director of Health Policy Studies Michael F. Cannon discuss the politics and policy of RomneyCare and Obamacare." see video Here:http://www.cato.org/multimedia/cato-video/david-boaz-michael-f-cann... (http://www.cato.org/multimedia/cato-video/david-boaz-michael-f-cannon-discuss-romneycare-20)

He is criticized for saying he believes in Global Warming. However he added that he would not impose Cap And Trade on U.S. because it would put us at a disadvantage: see more here: at Washing Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/romney-draws-early-fire-fr... (http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/romney-draws-early-fire-from-conservatives-over-views-on-climate-change/2011/06/08/AGkUTaMH_story_1.html)

Romney at CPAC 2009 "I know we didn’t all agree on TARP. I believe that it was necessary to prevent a cascade of bank collapses. For free markets to work, there has to be a currency and a functioning financial system. But we can agree on this: TARP should not have been used to bail out GM, Chrysler and the UAW. And this is personal for me, I want the U. S. auto industry to succeed. But as some of us pointed out last November, that can only happen if its excessive costs and burdens are restructured. And concessions are going to be few and far between if bondholders and unions already have your money when the negotiating begins. The right answer for Detroit is this: Fix it first."http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0209/Romney_at_CPAC.html?sho...

In the CNN Presidential Debate Romney was asked if he would raise the debt ceiling, and he said only if the President brought forth a balanced budget plan...that does not tell us what he would do as president...????. (I thought this an odd way to answer that question. Is he not serious in this run, and if not, why is he up there?) He was also not clear on what items he would cut on the budget.

Take a look at who his donations come from: Open Secrets http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=N0...

On The Issues says: http://www.issues2000.org/Mitt_Romney.htm (http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00000286)

we should just stay focused on Newt. There's absolutely no guarantee he's gonna fall like the others did. People are just assuming it will happen. The difference is, Newt's been around a long time in the public eye, those others had not. Same kind of thing happened with McCain, he surged at the end because people knew him well.

We need to keep going all out on Newt. Romney and Paul are more or less tied, and a tie is a win for us. We will overperform what the polls say because of our enthusiasm and support from independents and liberals that like his foreign policy. But polls are very accurate and unless the race tightens up it's gonna be Newt.
