Hey everyone!

I'm lucky enough to be one of the people selected to attend the "Christmas vacation with Ron Paul in Iowa" program done by Youth for Ron Paul. (http://www.youthforronpaul.com) Over 1,000 people have applied, and only 500 were selected. (250 to Iowa and 250 to New Hampshire)
We will be campaigning and going door-to-door to campaign for Dr. Paul during the time surrounding the Iowa caucus. We're arriving in Iowa on December 27th and will return on January 4th.

This is a VERY important caucus and it is more than necessary to get Iowan's support during this time!!

The program pays for everything except the transportation to Iowa. I'm going by plane, and the ticket is pretty expensive, so I've been asking for donations to help me get there. I've started a ChipIn page and have gotten donations from a few people in my local "Pine Belt Patriots" group. (It's a facebook page and meetup group for Ron Paul supporters of south Mississippi). You can check it out here. (http://www.facebook.com/groups/RP2012.So.Miss/)

My ChipIn URL is santana4ronpaul.chipin.com (http://santana4ronpaul.chipin.com/christmas-with-ron-paul-in-iowa)

Also, here are a couple articles about the event. MSNBC First Read (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/11/28/9073895-christmas-vacation-with-ron-paul) & ABC News Politics (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/the-forgotten-candidate-ron-paul-gathers-momentum-has-sights-set-on-newt-gingrich/)
You can find several similar articles if you do a Google search for "500 students to Iowa Ron Paul"

Any donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for your time!!

In liberty,
Santana Whatley

You applied without the monetary ability to do so. You took a spot from one of the other people applied? That is not fair. To expect people to donate? People who have had the ability to go get skipped over for people who don't. That isn't right one bit.

Not to mention the only reason you joined this forum was to ask for money?? What a joke.

I will have to agree with you. I was also accepted to this. At the time when I applied, the plane ticket prices were much, much lower. On the basis of those prices, I could afford it, henceforth I applied. When I was accepted, they had risen a lot. I waited it out to see if they would lower to at least close to the price they were before. They did not.

Even though I was short roughly $100, I refused to ask for help because it was my responsibility to be able to pay for this. I saw several other people on this forum asking for money to help pay.. Honestly, it makes no sense to me to apply if you do not have the money.

The plane ticket prices never dropped enough, I missed the deadline and am not going. I refuse to go against my morals.

I'm borrowing the money from my grandparents who used a credit card. I already ordered the ticket (obviously, if you'd read the email which said I needed it prior to November 28th), and I need the money to pay it back. The ticket was $422, but I also need money for the baggage fees and for cold weather clothes.. I'm getting some of this for Christmas, but definitely not all of it. Also, there is a waiting list, and people who drop out are getting replaced. I know this for a fact, because that's how one of my friends is going. (They waited last-minute to apply).

I know a girl who got $500 from Ron Paul forums, so of course I'm going to ask for help on here.. And I look at these forums all the time but hadn't made an account until last week (it took a few days to verify). My view on it is: I support Ron Paul. The Iowa caucus is a big deal. I know tons of supporters who are willing to help me out with this effort, monetary or not. I've had someone tell me they'll pay the remaining cost if I don't raise all the money. I'm not gonna sit here and argue with people over this. Gosh.

No big deal, maybe a maxed out donor wants to help. Anyone who donates should probably vet this new poster, though, and ensure she's really doing the Christmas with Ron Paul thing.

Not too much cheaper. The longer the haul, the worse a bus ticket looks. Hattiesburg to Des Moines round-trip looks like about 311 + fees on Greyhound, and it's a >24 hr trip each way.

Yeah, that's why I enclosed a screenshot of the acceptance letter. Also, Edward King's email address is on there, and you can email him if you'd like to ask him..

Yeah I chose not to travel via Greyhound because of how long the trip would be and how unsafe they tend to be.. I've heard way too many horror stories about Greyhound buses haha

Here's another screenshot to show it's legit. And Edward King's email address. (:

Sheesh people. if you don't want to help support someone volunteering for Ron Paul... then don't. But no need to be negative in public about it.

Santana, I salute your taking the initiative on this. Hopefully the efforts of young people like yourself will put us over the top in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Thank you!! I really hope everyone realizes how important the votes are in Iowa and NH. I've been keeping up with the polls and we've been gaining a lot of support lately.. Today a poll showed Gingrinch with 22% and Paul with 21%. If we keep this going, we'll win both states! I get more and more excited every time I see polls like this(:
