Limbaugh is saying he doesn't like Mitt because he is pro-Kannada global waing. But Mitt is no different than Newt on that issue, so his logic makes no sense.

At the last debate, Mitt sounded like Ron re Israel, though, saying they are a sovereign nation which doesn't want our help. Could THIS be the reason the media neocons hate Mitt and Ron both?

I wonder if it's not because Mitt's socialist tendencies are more overt and Newt's are more covert?

maybe it goes way back to the zinger newt gingrich zapped him with.
that time, he didn't beat teddy kennedy, he only got 41% of the vote.

Neocons are running Mitt's campaign.

I'm convinced it's because he's Mormon. What Beck said the other day was true, if you choose Newt over Obama you're racist. If you choose Newt over Mitt you don't like Mormons. They're all the same, but why pick the guy who cheated on his wives, banked millions from government "companies," and his disliked by his own colleagues over Mitt and Obama?

Are you talking about Neocon sheeple voters, or the Neocon power elite? The sheeple - probably a host of issues, doesn't seem genuine because of flip flops (though you could say same about Newt), maybe people see him as a rich guy who tries to act middle class (Newt is rich too, off the taxpayer even), also the Mormon factor, but also because the media is propping Newt over Mitt. That gets to the next part... the neocon power elite.

Let's be honest. There's no question in my mind that Mitt would fare better against Obama than Newt. Newt with all his baggage? Puhleese. No way independents prefer the adulterer over nice guy teleprompter who killed Osama. So why push Newt over Mitt?

This is political scientist Joel Skousen's answer, and I agree with it: because Newt is evil and Romney isn't. Look, Romney has done EVERYTHING he possibly could to get the neocon power elite to support him. His foreign policy advisors are evil neocons, his policies are exactly what they want, etc, but they are manipulating the process to prop Newt over Mitt.

It could also be that they think Newt would be easier to be defeated, and they want another Obama term. The neocons playing as democrats want the same thing that th neocons playing as republicans want. Win/Win for them. Lose/Lose for us.

Because they are bigots and don't like Mormons.

I'm talking about the talking radio heads, the ones who decide which way the Republican voters should vote, the ones now pushing Newt.

So they just want Obama to win again. I guess it WOULD be better for their ratings.

I think it is because Newt has been a Republican celebrity for over 20 years. Romney was relatively unknown until about 5 years ago.

Because he doesn't look or act like someone you could chill with. He looks country club. I'm not even kidding about this. Americans for a large part, like electing your average Joe for office.

Neocons love Mitt.

Rush's motivation has nothing to do with actual ideology. For him it's all part of his act. He has to pretend it's an establishment v. conservative contest, and that he's for the conservative. In 2008 he decided to pretend the establishment guy was McCain and the conservative was Mitt. This time the establishment guy is Mitt, so he's pretending the conservative is Gingrich. It just gives him something to make a big deal about on his show. That's all.

But that's just it... Romney ISN'T establishment. at all. Newt IS. Rush is pretending it's the opposite and that the media/establishment want Mitt. The fix is in and the puppeteers don't want Mitt as nominee.

I agree that Newt is establishment. But why do you say Romney isn't? I think between the two of them Mitt has more establishment support. The position I think Newt's in right now is pretty much the same as what Howard Dean was at this point for the Dems in 2004.

The establishment would rather have Ron Paul win than a Mormon

You're so close. Rich country club WASP pretty much encapsulates why some (not all) people don't like Romney. Knowing the history of these rivalries makes it easier to understand the motivations and prejudices. (In addition to the Mormon angle).

Are you sure you are talking about same Mitt Romney who is a hardcore pimp of neocons? His mormon faith might turnoff some flavors of neocons but other than that he fits well into neocon, leftist war monger crowd.
