I think Ron Paul is, at this point, in fantastic position in Iowa and New Hampshire. Recent polling has indicated one thing, however, above all else: people are looking for an alternative.
"Obviously," you say. However, have we made it clear that Ron Paul is the clear alternative? Have we made it clear to the anti-Romney crowd and even to those who are dissatisfied with Newt? What about those clinging to candidates with no real chance, like Santorum or Perry?
I think it is high time the campaign and some of our own grassroots efforts start using the word. "Alternative."
For example, here's a possible advertisement/theme:
"Are you tired of Washington insiders? Are you tired of having to pick between the lesser of two evils? Are you looking for someone with real ideas and real solutions to the toughest problems facing America today?
Are you looking for an alternative to Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich?
There's a clear alternative: Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is against the individual mandate, unlike Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. Ron Paul was against the bailouts from the beginning, unlike Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. Ron Paul is against amnesty for illegal immigrants, unlike Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. In short, unlike Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney, Ron Paul doesn't believe in the power of government. He believes in the power of the individual.
If you are looking for a clear alternative, don't look for more of the same. Look for someone who is truly an outsider with a record of fighting for the Constitution.
