View Full Version : What does it mean that we "never stopped campaigning in Iowa since 2008"?

It's often repeated by the mainstream media to explain Ron Paul's current Iowa successes.

I think the statement is weird, though. I was under the impression that we stopped campaigning in Iowa from 2008 until 2011. Heck, we didn't even know if Ron Paul was going to run again.

It simply isn't true. It IS true that some people in the GOP central committee supporting his campaign this time supported his campaign last time, so he didn't have to make friends all over. However, Campaign for Liberty and Ron Paul Forums remained active and a certain percentage of people who are supporters stayed involved with eachother. It is a way to dismiss his support, is all.

As I recall, he only visited Iowa 3 times between his presidential runs, that seems to indicate a significant lull in campaigning, if not a stop.

But if there's any truth to it, I would be curious to know.

How badly do you want to be President to help shape the course of the country?

Do you want to continue to grow your base support like Ron Paul and work hard to build coalitions of people dedicated to your cause, or show up late and with the arrogance of annointment like Romney and Gingrich?

The main stream media will diss Ron Paul every chance they get. For Ron Paul to become the next president it will take a miracle, but it is already a miracle he has made it this far with the outright censorship of him and attacks on him when that doesn't work. It may be too late to even save America now, but to not try would be foolish. We must give it everything we have to make America a free nation again. Our cause is noble and worthy, it is worth dying for much more than dying fighting overseas in the US military. Real patriots support Ron Paul!

I think the truth is more along the lines that the 10% that he got in 2008 remained supporters between 2008 and 2011, and so this year he was able to start at 10% rather than starting at 0 like he did in 2007, so we just had to build on everything we did last time.

he wasn't campaigning for president, but he was trying to fire people up on issues, through campaign for liberty.

Specifically in Iowa?

The head of Campaign for Liberty in Iowa was Drew Ivers.

I hope we never stop campaigning after 2012 as well. This group could make some serious changes in Washington.
