A common misconception I see put out on here is how after Iowa the MSM will have to change their tune and once that happens.. the momentum will carry us through the rest of the states "just like so many other candidates who won Iowa"... well... Lets see...

2008: Iowa winner...Huckabee - Nomanee... McCain
1988: Iowa winner...Dole - Nominee... Bush Sr.
1980: Iowa winner...Bush Sr. - Nominee... Regan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_caucuses#Republicans

Thats all the MSM needs....

Can anyone else see the MSM downplaying everything just like they did with straw polls???... I can see it now...
THIS JUST IN... MSM talking head(s): "As history shows..Winning Iowa dosent really mean that much, especially considering the ammount of effort Paul put there unlike said "real frontrunner" so and so who technically is the "real winner"anyway considering they go such and such % while spendy very little time there.. The "real test" to determine who will be "the real" frontrunner(s) in line to challenge Obama will be determined on who will pick up the next few states."

So why is it that near EVERY single plea or suggestiopn on here to hit hard in SC, FL, NV.. EVEN IF ONLY UNAFFICIALLY BY OUR GRASSROOTS ARMY to do SOMETHING... ANYTHING... EVEN IF is only to bring up our poll numbers as a viable 2nd choice from the flavor of the month club one they flavor has lost its taste is squashed with a "NO... these states are usless.. Once we win Iowa this thing is in the bag! IOWA OR BUST BABY!" mindset?????????

With the bragging rights to being the strongest campaign grassroots organization compaired to any of the other guys - and with the "OFFICIAL Campaign" if full overdrive in Iowa and NH - why cant we or shouldnt we the grassroots army focus at least a bit on these other states effectively to some extent to swing things more to our advantage somehow?

It's not an "All In" strategy. The campaign is properly playing its cards as the process unfolds.

They aren't all in for Iowa. They have a strong presence in NH and just opened offices in all the other caucus states.

Ron should have a sizeable number of delegates going into super tuesday.

Imo the difference with Paul unlike the rest is perception. If Ron Paul can shatter the perception that "he can't win" that the MSM has so elegantly put into the hearts and minds of people this entire race will be a whole new ball game. Not saying we should put all our eggs into one basket, but winning Iowa would be a game changer for Paul and the perception that he can win. If that can carry over to a state like NH or Nevada where he could potentially pull off another first or second place finish his polling numbers will sky rocket for the later states because he'll all of a sudden be a viable option other than Newt Romney.

An iowa win would give us a small bump in NH and SC. Florida already looks lost but I believe that Paul did well in Nevada in '08. An Iowa win + 2nd in NH +2/3 in SC + 1/2 in Nevada would give us enough steam to make it to the other states where it would be anybodies game. Iowa isn't "in the bag" though, and work still has to be done. Of course the MSM will downplay an Iowa victory, (as another forum memeber stated here earlier, their line will be "Iowa picks corn, NH picks nominees" ) but it won't hurt us. RP 2012!!!

ok guys... the "All in" was only a metaphore really... The main points I hoped people would take away from the post was that..
1. Winning Iowa dosent GuARANTEE us ANYTHING so dont get to relaxed... and
2. That maybe someone could answer why we shouldnt be doing anything in other states?

And just in case it comes up.. The poll (now that its up) is meant to be part sentiment & part humor lol (Im cheeky that way.. :p)

I was more talking about US getting more active in the early states as a premptive measure against any media downplay of an Iowa victory or strong NH showing or victory. :)

The media will downplay an Iowa win, however the size of the win determines the narrative. For example with a one or two point win the media can easily marginalize the victory and blame the other candidate's losses on lack of organization, weather, etc. A larger victory, say 8 to 10 points will force the media to cover it differently. While I agree that the media is against us, there are still some within the media that are intellectually honest and cannot write off a large victory as being a fluke, particularly when Paul is polling high in NH.

There is a difference between Paul in 12 and Huckabee on 08. When Huckabee won Iowa he was polling in single digits in NH (a distant third). Paul is current polling in the mid to high teens - still third, but not a distant third as Huckabee was. So the comparatives will be more difficult to draw for those who are intellectually honest to some degree.

All that being said, we cannot rely on the media in any way. But we can rely on two things - advertising and retail politics. So that means rather than sitting back and waiting to see what happens, waiting to see how the media covers it, waiting and hoping that Facebook "likes", YouTube views and Twitter follows will bring forth votes - donate money now, and sign up for phone from home now. This is the strategy that the campaign is employing and they are doing so because this strategy works. The more money and time you can give to the campaign, the easier it will be to silence the media detractors.

We do not have an office in the caucus state of Missouri.

Probably because it's a later caucus.

I agree.

There is no reason why Paul shouldn't be strong here too. Aren't they very libertarian?

I can tell you that the Michigan Campaign is focused and working 24/7 on Michigan
