In 2003, Monsanto sued Oakhurst Dairy in Maine - for advertising that their milk products and their cows are not treated with bovine growth hormone and other toxins related to cow feeds such as processed grains - claiming that such advertising hurts Monsanto.

The president of Oakhurst defense is "People ought to have the right to know what is and is not in our milk."

A spokeswoman from the office of Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) said Paul is introducing a bill in the U.S. Senate to lift the ban on interstate transportation of raw milk, a companion to HR 1830, introduced by his father, Ron Paul (R-Tx).
