Ron Paul Wins! That’s the headline today after the first New York State Republican Straw Poll. Clearly, after raking in a record amount of money the other day, Mr. Paul is on a roll. He seems to have out-organized his fellow Republicans — on Rudolph W. Giuliani’s home turf.

The New York State straw poll was conducted Tuesday at the Metropolitan Republican Club in New York City.

The results: Mr. Paul, 26 votes; Mr. Giuliani, 21; Mitt Romney, 6; John McCain, 4; Mike Huckabee, 2; Duncan Hunter, 1; Tom Tancredo, 0.

It is not clear why no votes were measured for Fred Thompson.

Ok, so about 60 people voted? Not the greatest news, but we'll take it

Does anyone know anything about this club or it's circumstances for voting? That turnout doesn't seem very big, but it would make sense if it was a members only or delegate only poll.

is this the same nyc club that refused to allow rp the use of their facilities for a rally awhile back?

I read your signature and found myself confused by your comment. Straw Poll won. Period.

Yes. It was held at their facility, but hosted by the Young Republicans.

Who are the young republicans and were the people who voted for RP long time members or did meetup members register as members like the day before. any additional information out there?

The Young Republicans (www.NYYRC.com) voted for Ron Paul in the first New York Straw Poll.

Some Paul supporters are long-time members, and some joined the Young Republicans more recently.

Some Republicans are long-time supporters of Paul, and some joined the Ron Paul message more recently too!

It is not in today's NYT, just the blog (November 07, 2007, 3:23 PM). Maybe in tomorrow's paper...

Its not going to make the paper. If the campaign had issued a press release about the win (in Rudy's backyard!), its possible it would have made a few papers.

My point of view, but I'm new to this.
