View Full Version : Bono is a neocon?

I like(ed) Bono, especially with what he wants to do for third world debt and Aids, but I just saw this quote on another forum and I was shocked.

"There is an imminent threat," (Islam) says Bono. "It's real and grave. It is as serious a threat as Stalinism and National Socialism. Let's not pretend it isn't."

I can't believe he buys into this shit!

He's probably looking at it from an African standpoint. That's his favorite charitable cause.

At least he labels socialism as bad. The comment seems to be taken out of context as well. If he was referring to extreme Islamic fundamentalists, then I'd have to agree, but that's true for any extreme fundamentalism of any brand of religion.

Does anyone care what Bono thinks? (Really)

Does he even live here?
Isnt he from Ireland!

Sorry for the naive questions, I was never a U2 Fan
Then again i was never one to listen to actors, actresses,, musicians when they voice political views.

Im actually a guitarist, (hobby, semi pro)
When I listen to music I want to enjoy and relax

Not listen to someones views in song, or in interviews.
Id rather discuss.

No offense intended DaronWestbrooke.

Well, I'm a songwriter, guitarist with 6 albums under his belt.. (yes, that is truth not sarcasm), but i'm also a politician with three major political campaigns under my belt... So, I guess I see other musicians much as I see myself, and I do take note of their views, because if our art is true, it is a reflection of something of ourselves...and to deny our art our political selves would be cheapening it. Music can inspire the patriots soul... the star spangled banner is a political piece.

Bono was at one time being considered for head of the World Bank. You don't get such consideration unless you're a NWO shill. And "debt relief" is a joke. As long as criminal institutions like the IMF and World Bank continue to exist they will continue to make bad loans to corrupt governments and then force draconian terms on the countries in question. Take what's happened with Chad. They have a lot of oil but needed a pipeline in order to sell it. The free market approach would be for a company to offer to front the cost of the pipeline for a share of the profits. Instead the world bank fronted the money but with strings attached. A huge part of the profits had to be stuck into a "future development" bank fund offshore. That effectively means that Chad isn't in control of its own revenues. The Chad government wants out of this crap and the World Bank is crying foul.

My songs are about many things...if its political it is more philosophical. I never talk about political figures, i really don't care about them at all.

I've just acquired a decent studio, hopefully i will get to lay down another album or two throughout the campaign... good inspiration.

I think he's probably a psyop agent with MI6. No musican with talent bordering on 2nd rate gets promoted, feted, lionized and knighted unless they're doing some service for the dark side.

U2's (named after a spy plane) career took off after John Lennon (who figured out the game and had to be taken out).

I gave up caring about Bono a long time ago.

I used to be a die-hard u2 fan. The stuff from 80-84 anyway.

I liked what john lydon(of the sex pistols/pil, etc.) said in a comment about bono. Something to the effect that when Bono isn't helping his own very poor Irish people, he is "Bozo". LoL It's so true. Bozo basically lives for Africa yet there's millions of very poor people all over eastern europe, Ireland, Russia, etc etc.

Bono is a marxist P.O.S.
