This is my math. I assume each call averages 2 minutes (a reasonable assumption in my experience).

1 call / 2 minutes * 60 minutes / hour * 8 hours / day * 14 days of calling ~= 3,000

where the hell is the button to take a break? I don't see one.

Don't let the computer go forward.
After the phone rings about 5 times, click "unavailable" --
computer goes to next screen
see tiny checkbox below that says (can't remember what it says LOL Take a break or something)
then click your answer that "yes, unavilable"
Computer takes you to the screen where you can click
"enough for now"

My computer program got screwed up today and screen wouldn't move.
I just hung up my home phone, closed the browser window.
When I opened program to log on again -- everything was okay.

So last resort, you can hang up in emergency/problem/whatever.

I've made about 530 calls, work full time, and have as normal/busy life as anyone on here. We all need to do this for IA and NH.

ANYWAY- + REP and a huge bump for this thread. EVERYONE on the forums needs to hit the phones and get busy. We have one month of hard work. Phones are what got RAND ELECTED PEOPLE. We gotta get everyone out to vote to win IA. We can do it if we hit the phones hard. This is going to require everyone on here. Please consider doing the phone from home program.

OK I'm ready to give this a shot. It's not something I feel at all comfortable doing but if we want to win, this is what the campaign has asked us to do! One question.

I understand that we are not supposed to try to persuade anyone, and that we should strictly "stick to the script". So my question is, do callers ever ask you personally who you are calling on behalf of? If they do, is it ok to tell them Ron Paul or how do you normally handle this?

JamesButabi
12-10-2011, 02:22 PM
I preface the questions by saying im a volunteer conducting an independent survey, so they usually don't ask that. Some people ask my own personal preferences and I choose to inject them with subtle liberty propaganda. It is all in what you are comfortable with.

4000 is doable! And is really easy compared to what others have given us for the blessings of Liberty...

vechorik
12-10-2011, 03:17 PM
What experience do you have to decide if you're "good enough?" I SAY: YOU'RE GOOD ENOUGH ALREADY! and can get better.

I was surprised to find that so few people are at home to begin with. About every 6 or 7 rings you might find someone at home.
I was very shy and when I first started making calls, I had to quit about every 30 calls, just to relax and re-group.
After awhile, I was accustomed to the script and system -- I could call for much longer without a break.

It takes awhile to get accustomed to reponses too (yes, some are ugly, some just hang up,) It takes a bit of getting used to.
What helped me get used to it is that I'm amazed how many people don't care about polls/the political process.
I just don't give them a second thought, as I head for that next call -- hoping to find a CONCERNED VOTER.

Like everything -- it gets easier, the more you do it.
Good luck

and +1 to the last 2 who said they would give "phone from home" a try!

You're right -- the script says it all -- hardest thing is to read script and sound "natural" LOL Gets easy after about 50 calls and a few surveys -- at the end of the survey the script says (different words but more or less ) thanks and this call paid for by the RP campaign committee

It's fun hearing responses AFTER they know it's Ron Paul too. Like "wow" "he's a good man too" "that's who I'd vote for" (after telling you "undecided" on the phone) LOL

If someone you called says "Who is this?" You just read the first part of the script (your name and that you're calling for a ........poll) The first part doesn't mention RP

Best way to find out .............................tryyyyy it you'll liiiiiiiiiiike it!

Anyway, I did make my first few calls.

4 answering machines, and one very nice gentleman. When I asked who he would vote for, it probably took him 15 seconds to answer. I let him know that undecided was an option, but he finally reluctantly said "I guess Gingrich."

I have a feeling that is about how enthusiastic much of his support is. He'll vote for Gingrich and not even be happy about it.

I truly hate talking to strangers like this, and it causes nothing but anxiety but I can force myself to do 100. I know that's weak but this is truly painful for me.

no thats pretty common. don't get discouraged at all when talking to people. Just be friendly, speak slow, clearly, and stick to the script, read down the list of issues, and let them answer. Be polite. if they sound a little ticked, finish out your questions and make sure you highlight that "this call was paid for by the ron paul presidential campaign committee". they want to connect this call to a name. if they hear his name on the phone like that, they may see a commercial, and the light ticks on. It's kind of like leading a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Hopefully we can push enough horses close enough so that they go to the caucuses and pull the lever 4 Ron.

Factor in 6.5% of calls will find and undecided or Ron Paul Supporter and 22% of these people will be converted to Paul supporters on followup calls

THIS GIVES US
522 voters we did not have before. (Could be higher as people reconsider down the road)

Factor in each voter will probably bring another .5-1 family member based on families usually voting the same-

(784-1045 total votes will be found)

*****REMEMBER, THIS IS TOTAL CALLS BEFORE IOWA, INCLUDES ONES ALREADY MADE******

SUNDAY -- "Call from home" is currently working! ON THE PHONES, PEOPLE! It's on!

Really? Is that a system glitch? I have always been under the impression that Sundays are not good days to call, as people want their privacy and time with the family on Sunday. However, if the campaign encourages us to do so, I'll do some phonebanking today too.

Does everyone remember their pledge?
I had to research mine -- jeepers -- 7,000 before Iowa -- that means I have 2,379 to go. I think I can do it! -- 14 days to go

Are you guys going to meet, fall short or exceed your pledge?
