The campaign should SPEND the entire MILLION on IOWA. We Must Win Iowa.

New Hampshire funds will be forthcoming from the December 16th money bomb. Additionally, there is a 4-day gap of non-stop media appearances and coverage if we win Iowa.

Winning Iowa will mean for FOUR ENTIRE DAYS residents of New Hampshire are bombarded by Ron Paul stories and interviews. Additionally, the money from the 16th money bomb along with other rolling donations can flood the New Hampshire airwaves.

Every scenario that ends with us obtaining the nomination requires us to invoke confidence in voters by breaking through the dismissive attitudes of not having broad appeal. Winning Iowa is a necessary condition for further success in other states.

A Ron Paul victory will mean NH residents will be bombarded with stories and interviews with the strong and impressive 2nd place candidate.

I agree. 1st in Iowa and 5th in New Hampshire would be better than 2nd in both. We have to prove we can WIN, not just do well.

Oh I disagree with this. We don't want to be 5th early on, that's too far down. They could just say "see? He was first in Iowa, but dropped significantly. He's over".

I think 1st or 2nd in both states is great. A third place in one of them would be a downer. 4th or lower in either one, forget it, we're done.

IMO: 1st in Iowa, 2nd in NH. That's what I think will happen.

I agree with this to some extent, but i don't know much about campaigns.
5th place finish would give everyone the right to call winning Iowa a fluke.
Winning Iowa is crucial for making us the anti romney though.

The campaign knows what it's doing. We just need to donate, phonebank, canvass, pomote, tweet, facebook until it hurts.

We need 1st in Iowa, 2nd in NH. That is definitely doable. That has to be the goal.

The money for Iowa had to come before November when ad slots where free and a little topup got added in December 7. There are no empty ad slots now, spending in Iowa is ineffective at a late stage, best to spend in other states.
While I welcome the OP enthusiasm the substance of it is inappropriate. We are in this for the long term, not to terminate if Iowa isn't a win.

OP is right!

The campaign would recover that $1 million within 3 hours of an Iowa victory! The spontaneous awakening of 2008 "sleeper agents" would be MASSIVE!

If its too late for ad buys....they should do mailers.

I agree, we MUST win Iowa. Whether we do or not, after Iowa, WE WILL PRESS ON!!!!!!!! One state does not determine the election. We must guard against either over or under confidence, whatever happens.

We can win both. I don't think Romney is untouchable in New Hampshire. We just need to convince Tea Party supporters to come our way and ditch Newt. Then I think we'll have enough Independents and young voters to swing it. It's going to be extremely hard without Tea Party support though. I hope Rand can rally the troops.

I'm not understanding all this talk of "sleeper agents" or whatever from the 2008 election. Who are these phantom supporters? I don't understand how people who were involved back then aren't also involved now, especially considering how much better Ron is doing. What we have now is all we've got, and any increase in support will come from new people.

There was a whole thread on this not too long ago. There were a LOT of people from 2007 who really put themselves out there, donating to where it really hurt and putting the rest of their lives on hold, and this was done based on what were in retrospect unrealistic expectations. I totally understand their discouragement when Ron did far worse than most supporters expected. Many at the time felt that the campaign was not focused 100% on winning, but was more of an educational effort that blew up unexpectedly.

This is why Iowa is so important. We have to let them and everyone else know that we're in this to win, and we can win.

I feel that all depends on the margin of victory. The bigger the margin, the harder it is for them to marginalize the victory. Sure, they will try, but a large percentage point victory will show voters in NH that he is indeed a serious candidate that can win, instead of a well organized candidate that can only win one state.

Please do whatever you can, to make this happen.
Canvass, Phone from Home, Send Superbrochures,Donate.
Its the last few weeks, this is the most important time which will decide the future.

There is no more time for sleeper agents. What are they waiting for?
They must do whatever they can right now, its just the last few weeks.

That's not the way I see it. A large margin of victory will prompt the media to inform everyone that Iowa no longer matters and that they are clearly out of touch with America. A close result will lead to continued blackout by the media or the occasional short mention here or there.

This is wrong , check the 2008 election polls taken at the Iowa caucus.40% of Republican voters only chose their candidate in the week beforehand or even on the day.

To a certain extent I agree with the Thread Starters sentiments. Iowa is all important!

But... You need to build infrastructure in other States. Offices, logistics, and organization do not occur overnight. You need to have your "Ground Game" in place. Newt will realize this shortly.

Compared to 2007-2008, Dr. Pauls campaign preparation has been excellent. Let's give them the benifit of the doubt.

Isn't New Hampshire home of Free Staters? If we win Iowa, there's a whole army of volunteers in New Hampshire to get things moving very quickly. Many of them are already working to publicize Ron Paul, so nudging people over to support Ron Paul should be entirely possible in order to claim 1st in New Hampshire as well.

We need to be contacting state reps. there for endorsements.
