View Full Version : Time to bring out the BIG GUNS: Make a TV ad with Carol Paul

In the 14th district, Ron Paul has always done a great job of highlighting his family in his campaigns and is well known as a good family man. I am a bit surprised that, to date, the campaign has not brought out the family aspect more with him. Especially considering the improprieties on behalf of other candidates, and how jaded the electorate is with the "character" of politicians generally.

No, I'm not suggesting we go after other candidates' personal lives. I would be against it. However, there is nothing at all wrong with pointing out Ron's personal character via how he and Carol have raised a large family successfully. That they have been married for 54 years.

The campaign needs to make an ad with Carol Paul talking about their family and about how much Ron cares about his message, with her emphasizing it in her own way. More than anyone, she can deliver a single, necessary point that will matter hugely to Christian conservatives and people who care about families: that Ron Paul is a good man.

Campaign, I know you see these posts. I know you made the cookbook, thank you! Great idea.

But just do us a favor here: make a television ad with Carol.

Please, just do it.

It would play well with women, older people, socons and those who think Paul is too negative. Big win.

Has she ever been in any political ads of his?

Yes – she was in his 1996 return-to-Congress video mailed out to voters at the time. She is fantastic.

Here it is, go to about 3:20.

I am all for this. I think socons would just eat this up. Have Ron and Carol talk about the importance of marriage vows and family. I just see nothing but good coming from this.

The campaign needs to read this thread.

Midwestern Iowa voters are the perfect demographic for this type of ad. I hope we can get it done before January 3rd.

Maybe Carol could talk about the history of her cookbooks? Then end the spot with family and marriage talk. There are so many possibilities....

I'm calling from home and people are REALLY upset with Congress.
That first video ad that said "his refusal to compromise is legendary" really grated my nerves a bit.

A "Christmas Carol" is an excellent idea!

Ron Paul's Christmas Carol -- yep, sounds great.

I can imagine Dr. and Carol Paul -- alone, maybe rocking around the Christmas tree, talking about America, his campaign or such!

Lotta great ideas. Wish we had the money for them all.

Most are aware that he's got no personal baggage.

I like the current ads, now we just need to get them on the air.

This type of AD and the spuerbrochure is exactly what we need to focus on right now.

Carol is a huge asset to the campaign that is not being fully utilized. She is extremely likeable and genuine and should make herself more available to the public, though I can fully understand why she might choose otherwise.

Doesn't this Collins guy have access to the campaign?

Collins = worthless imo (and definitely doesn't pass along ideas from the grassroots to the campaign).

If you want to get a message or idea to the campaign, your best bet is to post it to Doug Wead's facebook wall (https://www.facebook.com/DougWeadOfficial?sk=wall). He responds to almost every comment and as a result has become the ad hoc representative of grassroots ideas.

Re: the video shared - whenever I see older footage I can't help but imagine how awesome his story would play at the Republican Convention (after winning the GOP race). Everyone who's been against Paul simply because of the MSM's propaganda/spin would finally get a chance to see the real Ron Paul... and I think their reaction would be incredible.

His back-story is really quite remarkable ... the footage, the soundbites, the photos of him when he was 'young'... there's so much humanity and substance to be inspired by... so many fundamental narratives that could be worked in to make the story even more powerful than it already is (e.g. Ron through the lens of the 'hero quest' archetype, his years in the 'desert' as a lone voice to his rise as leader = biblical, etc.). No doubt, American's - when given the opportunity to see Paul as he really is (or even better, because that's what good 'political propaganda' is all about) - would find Ron Paul a very serious and inspiring candidate.

p.s. baseball picture = badass :)

Ron Paul's family and family values are what really set him apart from Gingrich. More than foreign policy, and more than integrity.

I agree. And unfortunately, many voters will vote on this basis rather than on the substance of the positions.

How about Dr Paul's FAMILY voicing their opinion, incidents showcasing character, integrity, humility, intelligence, generosity of Dr Paul?

How many daughter-in-laws, grandsons, granddaughters, great-great grandchildren of POLITICIANS would say good things about the said politician, except for Dr Paul?
