He cites the gallup poll about how only 7% of people who identify themselves as the Tea Party support Ron Paul. I don't really doubt this, but that doesn't mean it didn't start with him. As we know it's been co-opted by much different interests.

I tweeted him that the Tea Party was started by Paul supporters and quickly co-opted by neocon statists. Like he doesn't already know that...

Cliff notes:

Truth:
Paul has said that our presence in the Middle East provided the main motivation for the 9/11 attacks. In any terrorist attack, only those committing the violent act can be blamed.

Rush's Spin:
Paul blames America for 9/11

Truth:
Paul said those those at Occupy Wall Street can be categorized into those who want more handouts and those who are tired of paying for them. He is with those who are tired of paying for them

Rush's Spin:
Paul supports Occupy Wall Street 100%

Truth:
Paul blames the current recession on Federal Reserve manipulation and excessive debt created by individuals, corporations, and government.

Rush's Spin:
Paul blames the recession on Wall Street

Rush: "There's nobody -- no other Republican running [...] that has a foreign policy that's anywhere near
Ron Paul's."

Exactly.

No one but Paul.

Couldn't have made the case better myself. Thanks Rush.

Rush is kinda right though, the Tea Party isn't what they used to be anymore, and really tend to not associate themselves with Ron as much now. Hell, you rarely hear Ron even mention them. For whatever reason, some of them have shifted left, some went more right, and i don't even think most of them know wtf they even are anymore, just one big blur it seems.

Rush needs the reading list Ron Paul gave to Guliani.

The 9-11 Commission Report, Final Edition. National Commission on Terrorist Attacks. Barnes & Noble Publishing: NY, NY, 2006
Imperial Hubris Scheuer, Michael. Potomac Books: Washington, DC, 2004.
Blowback Johnson, Chalmers. Henry Holt and Company: New York, NY.* 2000.

Lol really crafty call because anyone who votes for Santorum or Bachmann is probably just taking votes away from Gingrich or Romney and indirectly helping Paul.

I heard this and wanted to scream. As said, people will sadly believe him and it hurt's Paul's chances.

I would say that we need to have some well educated, and spoken, supporters phone into him but I'm sure he'd ignore it or cut it off quickly before making him look bad.

We started the Tea Party right here on these forums back in '07. Back then it was a conduit for fundraising for Ron Paul's campaign. We felt like we were bringing back the spirit of the original Boston Tea Party by casting off the shackles of unrestrained government with our support for Dr. Paul's campaign, and the theme seemed like a good fit. It worked. Obviously we struck a chord with a lot of disaffected individuals. The campaign raised over $6 million dollars that day. But the establishment took notice of our tactics. After Paul failed to capture the nomination in '08 something different happened to the Tea Party...

After the nomination was over, the followers of Ron Paul's campaign mostly slid back into apathy or channeled their energies into Ron Paul's side-project - Campaign for Liberty. The Tea Party began to slip from our grasp as guys like Dick Army and the Koch brothers took hold of our "Tea Party" label. Army's "Freedom Works" foundation co-opted the term, and twisted the original spirit of liberty and prosperity that our Tea Party once stood for. They mutated the Tea Party into simply an anti-Obama platform for the establishment right. Neo-cons and rank-and-file Republicans fell in lock-step with the new anti-Obama agenda of the Tea Party and embraced the term, and whatever spirit remained of the '07 Tea Party we conceived was then lost.

Well, there was also that financial guy on tv who said something about how we should have a Tea Party like they did in Boston. Remember that rant? Can't remember his name...Was it Rick Santelli? But this was WELL after our 2007 Tea Party.

Rush is kinda right though...
He's wrong and probably knowingly lying. We had the first tea party on December 16, 2007. We used it to raise money, but the focus and symbolism was already there and it was nationwide. Paul supporters had already adopted the gadsen flag and focused on the importance of the constitution and the founding father's. At the time, Glenn Beck was calling us terrorists for using violent rhetoric ie "money bomb", "revolution", but obviously noted we were building a movement. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Rc4OJWH1nE&NR=1 After Obama was in office, FOX gave Glenn Beck a national stage so he could co-opt our movement and ruin it. It worked to a large extent, but not completely. All of us are still here!

SPOT ON!

We NEED NEED NEED NEED NEED to send the link to the birth of the Tea PArty Movement with it's COMPLETE history to EVERY SINGLE TEa Party website ASAP. EVERYONE NEEDS to KNOW who started it, when it was started and why it was started. We NEED to clear this up SOON. Make videos. Go into discussion forums EVERYWHERE you can find them and make it KNOWN tot he world that

1) The Tea Party Movement was born before our money bomb 12-16-07 RIGHT HERE out of Ron Paul's campaign

2) That it was so large and influencial that the party hacks took notice and co-opted it.

3) The ORIGINAL principles it stood for are Ron Paul's Constitutional government, integrity, sound money (END THE FED) and a non interventionist foreign policy.

We also need to make the true history of our foreign policy KNOWN to EVERY Tea Party activist. That we started out with a foriegn poolicy that was modeled after Switzerland and based in the Christian Just War Principles of non interventionism and armed neutrality. That the ONLY just war is a war of self defense.
That it changed with liberals and progressives (USE that word-progressive). who ignored the advice of our founding fathers and thought that they knew better. That it was Woodrow Wilson who wanted to use our sons and daughters not only for reasons of national defense but to "make the world safe for democracy" and if there are any so called conservatives who want to continue to police the world and stick our noses into the business of other countries then they aren't acting like the old style conservatives who adhered to the advice of the founders,, but of progressive democrats instead.
Point out to them that Democrats were the party in power during the Indian War, the first and second Mexican Wars, the Spanish-American war, Bolivia, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Somalia, Serbia, Kosovo, Columbia and they kept us in Iraq for 8 yrs killing over 500,000 with the sanctions. And now, Uganda, Yeman, Somalia, Sudan, Pakistan and ramped up the war in Afghanistan twice. They are the war party. They are the police the world party. They are the one world government party. They are the League of Nations and United Nations party. NOT the old style Republicans.

Copy these quotes from the founders and spread them EVERYWHERE. INclude them in whatever you send to Iowa voters and New Hampshire voters. These quotes will ring true in the hearts of the American people because NO MATTER what sort of propaganda. NO MATTER how we've been hoodwinked. NO MATTER what the media says you MUST believe that minding our own business is so deep in the hearts of us the American people that it predates apple pie and baseball. Ron Paul is popular because he taps into that. When we encounter resistence KNOW in your heart that it's becuase all of their lives they have been lied to, propagandized, and taught to think that way but it's a lie and when they hear the truth they WILL KNOW IT. Trust in your heart that they WILL know it.

John Quincy Adams on U.S. Foreign Policy (1821)
October 2001
And now, friends and countrymen, if the wise and learned philosophers of the elder world, the first observers of mutation and aberration, the discoverers of maddening ether and invisible planets, the inventors of Congreve rockets and Shrapnel shells, should find their hearts disposed to enquire what has America done for the benefit of mankind?
Let our answer be this: America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government. America, in the assembly of nations, since her admission among them, has invariably, though often fruitlessly, held forth to them the hand of honest friendship, of equal freedom, of generous reciprocity.
She has uniformly spoken among them, though often to heedless and often to disdainful ears, the language of equal liberty, of equal justice, and of equal rights.
She has, in the lapse of nearly half a century, without a single exception, respected the independence of other nations while asserting and maintaining her own.
She has abstained from interference in the concerns of others, even when conflict has been for principles to which she clings, as to the last vital drop that visits the heart.
She has seen that probably for centuries to come, all the contests of that Aceldama the European world, will be contests of inveterate power, and emerging right.
Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.
But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.
She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.
She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.
She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example.
She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom.
The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force....
She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit....
[America's] glory is not dominion, but liberty. Her march is the march of the mind. She has a spear and a shield: but the motto upon her shield is, Freedom, Independence, Peace. This has been her Declaration: this has been, as far as her necessary intercourse with the rest of mankind would permit, her practice.
When John Quincy Adams served as U. S. Secretary of State, he delivered this speech to the U.S. House of Representatives on July 4, 1821, in celebration of American Independence Day.

I have always given it as my decided opinion that no nation had a right to inter-meddle in the internal concerns of another; and that, if this country could, consistent with its engagements, maintain a strict neutrality and thereby preserve peace. George Washington - Letter to James Monroe, August 25, 1796

Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all. ...The nation which indulges toward another an habitual hatred or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. George Washington - Farewell Address, September 17, 1797

Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none should be our motto. Thomas Jefferson - First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

If there be one principle more deeply rooted than any other in the mind of every American, it is that we should have nothing to do with conquest. Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) Letter to William Short, 1791

We certainly cannot deny to other nations that principle whereon our own government is founded, that every nation has a right to govern itself internally under what forms it pleases, and to change these forms at its own will. Thomas Jefferson - To Thomas Pinckney, December 30, 1792

Europe, by her arms and by her negotiations, by force and by fraud, has extended her dominion over them all, Africa, Asia, an America have successively felt her domination. The superiority she has long maintained has tempted her to plume herself as the Mistress of the World, and to consider the rest of mankind as created for her benefit.*
Alexander Hamilton on Colonialism, The Federalist Papers 1787

My ardent desire is to keep the United States free from political connections with every other country, to see them independent of all and under the influence of none. George Washington (Letter to Patrick Henry, October 9, 1795)

We mistake the object of our government, if we hope or wish that it is to make us respectable abroad. Conquest or superiority among other powers is not or ought not ever to be the object of republican systems. Charles Pinckney (1757-1824) Constitutional Convention, June 25, 1787
