View Full Version : This is why optimism will help us win - Maxing out

Some folks have said that our optimism will make us lazy and complacent. While I agree that we should definitely NOT be complacent in any way, I believe that optimism helps us a lot. Here is why.

http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/383782_2551992130552_1576350007_2355228_1525947556 _n.jpg

Last night I went to bed worried about the race, worried that our message would be drowned out, and concerned that we wouldn't make it. I was un-optimistic. I was hesitant to donate money because I thought it would be a waste, and wouldn't do any good in the long term. (I'm a penny pincher).

Then this morning I came back to the forums and saw that almost everything had changed overnight.

I saw that a 60 second version of the hypocrisy ad was released: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?335217-Ron-Paul-Ad-Newt-Gingrich-Serial-Hypocrisy-60-second-(on-drudge)

I saw the RCP poll, and it is definitely something to be optimistic about: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?335253-Ron-Paul-surges-to-2nd-on-Real-Clear-Politics

I saw that a ticker was put up and the campaign was only asking for 1 mil (1 mil is nothing for us): http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?335284-TICKER-UP!

And then I noticed that the word "gold" was being mentioned on the forums: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?335268-Would-I-be-maxed-out-if-I-sent-5-Gold-Eagles-to-the-Campaign
http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?335273-Because-of-this-new-anti-Newt-60-second-spot-I-am-now-going-to-sell-a-Gold-coin!

I thought it was amazing that some people are scraping the bottom of their wallet so hard that they are selling their gold to pay more money to the campaign. Selling any of your gold that you invested in is a huge sacrifice. That's part of your personal retirement fund, your kid's college fund, etc. The price of gold sure ain't going down any time soon.

This optimism and sacrifice made me realize that I haven't been giving my fair share to this campaign. Sure, 100 there, 50 here, etc is nice, but despite growing up on a farm in the desert I've had it pretty easy financially. I recently escaped CA to live in WA State with the same salary, and I've had some very good luck in the stock market recently. I've donated almost $1000 to the NRA, and I love Ron Paul at least 50 times more than the NRA.

So I've decided to max out. With my other donations, I'm somewhere just under the $2500 mark (not including super brochures since those aren't campaign donations). I'll do the math and top it off later during the TeaParty bomb.

So here is my request. If you've had it easy, get paid too much to sit at a desk and type on a keyboard like I do, and have the extra cash laying around in your bank account, donate. I know not everybody can do that, but if you can, please donate generously. When Ron Paul wins the nomination, you can expect an even bigger donation from me, but that won't happen unless we dig deep and donate heavily now.

For those of you who are sacrificing your savings and digging deep, thank you.

BE OPTIMISTIC! DONATE OPTIMISTICALLY! WE ARE WINNING!

Will anybody match me?

+1 I agree that we MUST NOT GIVE UP HOPE, but at the same time -- we must fight hard -- as if we want to win by 200%.

Call from home is the best thing we can do. I maxed out what I can afford to give, but I give every day with "call from home"

It's an easy script to read -- anyone can do it! HELP DR. PAUL WIN WITH CALL FROM HOME!

Kirkland close to Google/Microsoft? I was thinking about moving to Washington from California to work remotely, and HR said I could keep the same salary.

I would match, but I've had my optimism for a while now. My wife and I are maxed out.

OP, you don't have to do the math. Just try donating $500 and your browser will display a pop-up that says "you can only donate $xxx.xx more to the campaign under federal donation laws" and it will auto-populate the donation text box with the proper amount. Then click "done" again and the donation will go through.

Yep IBM, Google, and MS are all under 10 minutes from where I'm living now. I happen to work for IBM, convinced them to let me move up here or else I would quit. I was in Morgan Hill, CA just south of San Jose, so I know the area where you are at. I'll be visiting CA to spend Christmas with my fiancé. We're getting married in March down in CA and then she'll move up to WA with me as well. The wedding is strategically placed after the March 3rd caucuses and before the March 24th district/county conventions.

Are you, by chance, on calguns.net harikaried?

Me too -- maxed out both Campaign and PAC -- in other words maxed out my finances! Doing "calls from home" now, so I still feel like I'm giving

If you feel like donating more, that's up to another $2500 when you're married!

Are you, by chance, on calguns.net harikaried?Nope, but my family has been to Coyote Valley Sporting Clays. I haven't gone myself, but I've biked past it multiple times.
