I see alot of name calling on these forums towards other Candidates. We are in a chess match and every word spoken on these forums, or out in the world to other people represents a move on your part. I am not posting this to insult anybody or to attack anyone but only to let others understand that there is a certain way you should represent yourselves which will help Ron Paul and his campaign much more.

First we must look at all of the Candidates and break them into categories. Those categories are based on the voter base each candidate has, how likely they are to drop out, and how likely their supporters are to come to us.

The following 3 candidates ( I know Cain is out now but his supporters are still making up their minds) are currently no threat to Ron Paul, can be expected to drop out sooner rather than later, and should not be having Ron Paul supporters attacking them or calling them names. For these 3 candidates we should be highlighting the things Ron Paul has in common with them. When talking to others about Ron Paul we should be bringing up the commonality and not the differences with these candidates. By doing this we will create common ground with supporters who will eventually need to find another candidate to support. This is critical because none of these candidates pose a direct threat to Ron Paul in the polls and all have very weak campaign funding.

Herman Cain - Obviously he has dropped out. We need to show his supporters the things we have in common without attacking Herman Cain. When you attack someone that someone else believes in, even if they are sympathetic to our cause, basic human psychology dictates they will put up a wall. So by calling Cain names, or attacking him for the sexual harassment allegations, or even his policies at this point, you are not helping bring his supporters to Ron Paul, you are alienating them even if they like Dr. Paul and considered him as a possible 2nd choice. There is absolutely no reason to do this as it doesn't help our cause at all.

Michelle Bachmann - Again just like Cain her supporters are crossovers and share a good portion of their beliefs with many Ron Paul supporters. There is absolutely no reason to alienate her supporters by attacking her policies or calling her names. She has weak funding and will eventually drop out. The sooner we show her supporters that we respect her and show the commonality she has with Ron Paul the easier it will be to bring those people over to us once she has dropped out.

Rick Perry - Another candidate who is likely to drop out after Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, or South Carolina. Once again his supporters have cross over appeal with Dr. Paul. The goal right now should be to show them that we share some of the same beliefs through Ron Paul that they feel are reasons to support Rick Perry. When he drops out his supporters will be looking for another Tea Party candidate and we want to make it as easy as possible for it to be Ron Paul. By getting them prepared now by showing them the things Rick Perry has in common with Ron Paul, we leave and impression in their minds that there is more than one candidate that shares their beliefs so that when the time does come for Perry to drop out we can more easily bring them to our cause.

Now the other 4 candidatess 2 of which pose a direct threat to Ron Paul and 1 of which is helping us by stealing support from Mitt Romney.

John Huntsman - When talking to Huntsman supporters or about Huntsman you can basically do the same thing as you do with Perry, Bachmann, and Cain. Highlight some of the things we have in common with Huntsman but at the same time show why Huntsman is wrong on many of the issues. The reason you do this for Huntsman supporters is the lack of crossover for his base of support. Hunstman's supporters are more likely to go to Romney than to Paul which is why it is important to show them why Huntsman is wrong on many of the issues he and Ron Paul disagree on. By doing this you give yourself the best chance of bringing his supporters over to us. They will not come just because Huntsman drops out as his base is not very much like ours but by openly criticizing his positions and highlighting why they are wrong we may still be able to bring some of his supporters to us. In the meantime having Huntsman in the race is good for us because it keeps Romney's numbers down.

Newt Gringrich and Mitt Romney supporters should be treated very different than the other candidates. Both candidates are a threat to us, but both also have extreme baggage attached to them. Their supporters are very unlikely to come to us should either one drop out (and neither one will likely drop out until the race is so far along that their supporters will be of little help that late in the game). So the strategy for supporters of these 2 candidates should be to attack them on all the issues and show how corrupt they are or how inconsistent they are on the issues (such as flip-flopping on many important issues). This is the only way we will get supporters to defect from their campaigns. When it comes to dealing with these two candidates it is very important to highlight just how not conservative they really are. We may only be able to bring 5-10% of their supporters to us but by showing how morally or ethically corrupt they are, we can bring some of their supporters to our cause.

Rick Santorum is polling low, has little money, and does not share anything in common with Ron Paul. The only thing we have in common with his supporters is that he is as convinced about his views as Ron Paul is about his own. If someone is a die hard Santorum supporter it is unlikely they will become a Ron Paul supporter.

Remember everyone, supporters from all the republican contenders come here and read things we write. By writing things based on the political situation we see in front of us based on the opportunities we see, we can maximize the amount of people we bring to Ron Paul's cause of liberty while alienating the least amount of voters who currently do not support Ron Paul.

Yes. Treat everyone with respect - supporters & candidates. It's more difficult with some people than others (ie, Trump), but do try.

I agree bxm042. It is tough with people like Trump. But for the candidates running now and their supporters I believe it is important to approach each one with a strategic goal. We cannot treat all supporters the same. Some are more sympathetic to us and more likely to come to us if we show the similarities we have with their candidate while others will only come to our cause if we show how flawed the candidate they are supporting really is.
