Not a bad article, but man, this bugs me:

Aptly called “testosterone-laden” by the Des Moines Register, the ad pushes the idea that only Ron Paul will “drain the swamp” and reign in government spending.

Pema Levy is a News Writer at TPM covering the 2012 election. Before coming to TPM, Pema was an assistant editor at The American Prospect where she wrote about politics and the economy.

Fair article, pretty much sums up the campaign ad. I'm glad the Paul campaign is diversifying their target audience. I'm so sick of the regular formula for political campaigns

I don't know, guys. The message was good, but the execution? This isn't going to bring out the little old ladies, and I felt like I was watching a beer commercial.

Watch the video.

The Ron Paul video? I have already, many times. I think you missed my point--her using "reign" when "rein" is the correct word.

And the ad is gonna run on the same stations where you see beer commercials. How many beer commercials run on stations/tv shows targetted to little old ladies?

My saying is with marketing, "if you dont get it, then it's not meant for you to get." It's not targeting old women its targeting men and youth

Look. We're those 'die hard' supporters everyone talks about. Pretty much everyone here researches, cares deeply about the issues, we don't waiver on our positions, and have realized that Ron Paul is a methodical and thoughtful politician - what a politician should be. BUT, that line of thinking is the minority and NOT how the typical American sees an election these days. I think most of us would agree this isn't what a campaign ad should be...but we need to broaden. This is what it is meant for.

Ah! I did indeed! :)

I intentionally didn't bold the word "reign," cuz I'm a jerk sometimes. :p Seriously. I realize now that I semi-subconsciously did that on purpose. Sorry. :p

We'll maybe the sigma of Paul is a pussy or not tough enough will be removed. It's not a commercial that would work on me but it left me feeling good and warm inside. It's memorable! People will talk about hopefully and check Paul out where he stands.

Guess who taught me the proper usage of "reign" vs "rein."

Ron Paul. A while back, Alex Jones had him on and had an article about Paul on his site that improperly used the word. Paul corrected him.

Im glad the campaign is targeting the sports crowd. What is Presidential politics if not a sporting event? This audience may choose Ron BECAUSE of the style of the ad.

Yeah, it's a bit strange, but I'm sure this is for the jock muscle heads out there so it can be played during commerical for basketball, football, etc.

Look how much attention Cain got for his stupid 999 the movie idea.

It's a fair and accurate article. Testosterone-laden is precisely what the ad seems to be going for.

As a person who almost religiously watches ESPN and the History Channel, I will tell you this a homerun to that particular crowd.

Not sure about the Golf Channel though, since all I ever see there are Rolex commercials XD

I can't believe Ron Paul really approved that. Hopefully its a parody. The semi-truck was just over the top, as as the "HUD... GONE!" bit.

Yep -- "drain the swamp" is a southern-Tea-Party-thing that will resonate well! NASCAR will love it!

I'm guessing none of the people here were who this was targeted at lol. It was meant for those NASCAR lovers who don't know anything about Paul and won't sit still for anything that doesn't involve speeding cars or explosions.

I've been arguing on that website for almost 2 hours with the same liberal lunatics. What a waste of time. We've covered everything from WW2, to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, to foodstamps, and I've been extremely pleasant the entire time, but now I'm getting angry.

Sigh. Time to stop I guess.
