Ron Paul revolution redeems holiday parade
Posted on 3 Dec 2011 by Sovereign Curtis
The mood was jovial, the air was crisp, and the parade was… interesting. It began just following the ’Santa Claus Shuffle’ three mile Fun Run, a terrific excuse for grown adults to wear funny outfits and run down Elm street.
At times it seemed to be a car dealer advertisement with a holiday theme. Maybe I’m just too young to realize that its always been like this. Car dealer, random beauty queen, car dealer, church group, high school marching band, car dealer… You can see the complete list of parade participants here. And there was something a bit perverse about hearing a child say “Merry Christmas” over the loudspeaker of a SWAT vehicle, over and over. But the day was saved when one of the two or three groups of Ron Paul supporters in attendance took advantage of the many extended gaps between parade participants, and joined in the parade. Along with handmade signs, they sported a four-foot by eight-foot Ron Paul banner created by Free Manch activists and mini Ron Paul blimps that were inflated on site!
As mentioned, there were actually multiple groups of Ron Paul supporters attempting to do outreach, including one group from the Liberty at Boston University crowd! The Romney camp, which had a sanctioned position in the parade, was predictably not as numerous as the Ron Paul crowd, with the Gingrich crowd being pretty much non-existent.
Sadly we left just before witnessing the appearance of the 501st New England Legion.
