I'm not sure if any of you have seen this, but I love to reference it when people raise doubts of Ron Paul's Conservatism.

(http://www.voteview.com/is_john_kerry_a_liberal.htm)I can't find a better source link for the article that ran in the American Journal of Political Science, but nonetheless, it's impressive.

Top-most are the most Liberal house members and the Bottom-Most are the most Conservative house members since 1937. This is one list I'm happy to see Ron Paul at the bottom of. :)

If we were to go back throughout all of history.. it's quite possible Ron Paul was the most Conservative house member to have ever served in Congress.

Here is how the study was conducted: http://www.voteview.com/basic.htm

Hahahaha that's awesome! Made me smile. I'll definitely be sharing this to those idiots who call him a "liberal".

That tells me nothing about what the criteria for liberal vs conservative is, though. Expansion of the size and scope of government, or what?

the article has me wondering who the guy was in 1936 who was more conservative than Ron Paul is now, who evidently left congress by 1938 or 1940!

No one ever claimed there was one. They've simply only used data from 1937 on to come up with their chart.

I've seen it, and I like it. The one giving Ginrich a high 'conservative' rating on the other hand, is a lobbying trade group seeking favors. They love Gingrich. Ron, who doesn't parcel out corporate subsidies, not so much.

Yeah, he would have made an amazing president.

FDR had a major re-election victory in 1936. there is a thread today with a link to the GOP platform of 1936!
