They are offering to donate money to charities for each "upvote" their submission gets. An upvote is essentially a youtube like/thumbs up.

It's a recent thing. They don't normally do that. (People are in a giving mood. Tis the season.)

I know, but he/she asked. I fully recommend he/she signs up, and unsubscribes from r/atheism ASAP.
