IA General Election -- Only Ron Paul Competitive with Obama

Yet -- with one exception -- he leads all GOP challengers in hypothetical match-ups in the Hawkeye State. He’s ahead of Romney by seven points among registered voters (46 percent to 39 percent), Gingrich by 10 points (47 percent to 37 percent) and Perry by 11 points (48 percent to 37 percent). The one exception: Paul ties him at 42 percent for each.

And this is with Paul fighting both wings of the media and the leadership of his own party.

Ron is the only one that can call Obama out for his broken campaign promises. Ron is basically everything Obama said he would be but failed to deliver.

We need to co-opt the meme: Ron Paul is the only electable candidate in the GOP.

Precisely. Can you imagine a debate in which Obama has to be the one advocating for eternal war? It would be a disaster for his campaign.

Needs to be Monday morning drudge headline!

Point of clarification: Paul is tied with Obama at 42 in Iowa. Romney is still doing best against Obama in New Hampshire (ahead by 3), but Paul is still close (behind by 2).

When Ron polls against Obama, he consistently drags Obama down to his lowest numbers. He's clearly the guy who has the best chance, it just needs to whole GOP to get behind him and that tie will turn into a comfortable victory.

He is everything Reagan said he would be, but unfortunately didn't deliver.

Conservatives will love President Paul, if we can get him there. He is everything they always wanted.

The Iowa NBC-Marist survey was conducted Nov. 27-29 of 2,896 registered voters.

Thats a sample size to die for. Awesome poll.

Huge. I haven't the slightest idea why they'd need such a large sample for such a small population.

You are correct. Something like, "Ron Paul is most competitive with Obama" would be a better headline.

Fantastic. Doing pretty good in NH as well.

Obama is toast in Iowa, especially if RP is against him in the general election !
