With the dizzying fall of Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich has stepped into the breach and now stands alone as the most popular GOP presidential candidate in The Des Moines Register’s new Iowa Poll.

Gingrich, with support of 25 percent of likely Republican caucusgoers, is seven points ahead of the rising Ron Paul, who’s at 18 percent. Mitt Romney drops to third, at 16percent, denting his previously armor-plated Iowa polling average. Romney’s support stood at 22 percent last month.

Cain, who suspended his campaign Saturday, had plunged from 23 percent to 8 percent in just over a month, tied with Michele Bachmann...

Then they should continue looking. Until they find Ron. I don't have the cross tabs but I'm betting few of those were in Ron's camp.

Yep, it really stands out in this image. this image needs to be saved to local drive in case TBTB notice it and decide to have it PS'ed. Just saying. That is really what caught my attention more than anything else on this page.

That and the exception of Ron Paul polling so strongly against Obama. If it really is going to come down to who has the most elect-ability vs Obama, this is going to be the bitter pill that anti- Ron Paul GOPer's (aka pro-war interventionist)will need to swallow.

Not only that, there are four pictures. Putin is at the very top. Then you have a picture of Ron Paul looking happy on the left, a picture of President Barack Obama grimacing in the middle, and a picture of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton grimacing on the right. It's awesome. As much as the mainstream media refuses to admit it, Ron Paul's going to become more and more recognizable on the world stage and may arguably already be the most popular politician in the world.
