If you're going to start a new thread with "Rocket Ron Paul to #No 1", you should wait until the song has Ron Paul in the title again.

At this point, the Golden State song DOES NOT have Ron Paul in the title.

However, there are a lot of itunes songs that DO have Ron Paul in the title.

where there are 5 itunes Ron Paul songs with links and other links to the acts.

At the moment we only really have this which is suitable to be made into a banner already: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/9233/38147226701998001673626.jpg. So if you wouldn't mind writing the code for that to redirect to itunesbomb.com it would be a good start.

However, as you can see above, all the graphics are in place to make banners. It just needs someone to play around with the size and shapes so we can have a range of banners to suit different websites.

People seemed to be conditioned to think, at least here on RPF, that people are either for or against.

I'm either for or against on specifics.

Ron Paul songs on the itunes charts - for.

Golden State being the top Ron Paul song on the charts - neutral, not against, think it's the most likely outcome.

Making sure that the Golden State song contains "Ron Paul" in the title - necessary, and not something I'm going to forget about.

Radio, at this point - against, is a distraction.

Many songs vs one song - for, because the fans of all the bands that have Ron Paul songs on itunes are the people you want to buy songs from more than one band, you want, let's say, Jordan Page's fans to buy Jordan Page's song, and also Golden State's song and also other Ron Paul songs.

Those people who are buying the song more times do not necessarily include fans of the other bands, for instance.

I get your argument.

My thinking is to expand the number of people who are enthusiastic about this project by including the fan bases of many bands with itunes songs.
It certainly appears that the Golden State song is getting the most individual hype and likely would be getting sales from the fans of the other bands
with itunes songs because of that hype.

Here is something I can definitely agree with.

When you have the evidence that the efforts are working - screen grab - yes, that's when the fun begins. More people will have to be enthused at stage B. It will be easier to get people enthused at stage B.

Something, of some sort, whether it has something to do with Golden State, or not, should happen in Des Moines in the days leading up to the caucuses. There's time to do that. But there doesn't seem to be any money. Or any interest on the ground in Iowa.

There needs to be money on the ground in Des Moines to make this happen. And nobody seems at all interested in putting money on the ground in Des Moines. Most money goes to the Federal Government, to deliver mail. Without a lot of money in the hands of people in Des Moines, nothing is going to happen. I would just say that nothing is going to happen. The 17-29 Ron Paul supporters need a lot of special attention. Evidence indicates that they will not get that special attention. That age group loves Ron Paul, but doesn't know how to vote.

They would know more by living there what could happen, best bars and clubs, maybe stir up some interests, etc. I just hope a lot of people didn't get turned off on this project from the ego trips in the beginning stages of this project.

Well, these are 2 separate unrelated projects.

1) itunes
2) Des Moines

I would actually argue that a stickied thread on the as yet non existent Des Moines Final Push project is more worthwhile than this thread being stickied.

The people who would participate the most on the itunes project are the fans of the band Golden State. Whereever there are Golden State fans, that's who you want to hit mostly. Ron Paul supporters have a lot of different things to work on. Golden State fans pretty much have this project to work on.

I don't think I'm going to run out and tell every RP supporter to buy it - it does sound like someone has come up with an idea to promote their band.... but hey, they're for Dr. Paul so I hope it works for them.

And I'd sure love it if they had some kind of concert in Iowa connected to the campaign. It might help a lot with the college crowd. While I think they are interested in self promotion they've made a great song and they do sincerely seem to be trying to help the campaign too.

The idea was started on The Daily Paul and is being pretty well pushed by James. No connection to Golden State whatsoever. Golden State wanted to give the proceeds to the campaign - we slam polls (according to O'Really?) - so, - we slam the iTunes chart. Create money for campaign, awareness and get new people interested and involved.

I assume you are putting text and info(for search purposes) into these banners so google is picking the banners up to? not sure what they call it in techie terms but i can ask my wife when she wakes up! She is the computer genius(css,php,seo marketing)

ok talked to my wife, i am sure you guys know this but make sure whatever image your have. you are naming the image with something searchable like ronpaul2012 or newt(hehe) you wanna name the image with a search term and not jpeg or bannerimage1 etc etc. you also want to use alt tags. So many folks use images and do not change the image name to a searchable term.

you can use top search terms or whatever you want but by replacing the image with a searchable term it gets picked up by google etc etc. for example if a person searches ronpaul2012 or another term. your banner and image come up in google but if image says banner 1279aka then it will not come up unless that person searches banner 1279aka!

urgent, i just checked properties of one of your banners. you guys are not naming your images with searchable terms. this is huge. note to everyone every image should be named with a searchable term not random numbers or none searchable terms. this is huge with search engines. This needs to be fixed asap with every banner ad/image on every project.

of course you want to name the file to something relative that your doing but keep it simple for search terms.

I've no idea. Nirvikalpa is the one to talk about this because he's the one who is kindly doing this. I am not tech savvy at all and that sort of thing is beyond me. :)

That's $6,500 Golden State will donate to RevPac. OK, not a huge amount of money, but what if we push this where 100,000 units are sold worldwide? That would be $65,000 to RevPac from possibly people that would have never donated to the Ron Paul campaign. That could be well spent money for the campaign to open a new campaign office in a new state or help pay for staff. Do you see the benefits from promoting this? Nothing but good.

The original link went private because there were some audio issues, so the band corrected the issue and re-uploaded a corrected version. ONLY this version can be seen by the general public. Not sure we should associate ourselves with the word "occupy". It has negative connotations and will make the event seem like a protest rather than innocent support for Ron Paul and publicity for the itunes bomb.

I agree. We should start using a different slogan for these type of events with a positive tone. Something like "Freedom Rally" or "Operation Liberty". Maybe some other ideas from others?

You don't. The only people who would get it are people that don't lack critical thinking skills.
1. All over the internet in write ups they don't hide the fact they are Ron Paul fans.
2. They have teamed up with RevPac and have committed to donate the proceeds from iTunes sales.
3. Friday night they have posted on their Facebook page they are going to hang out with other Ron Paul supporters for the arrival of Ron Paul for the Jay Leno show and do a sing along and sign wave.
4. Talks are in the works of doing a show before the North Dakota Caucus
5. Let's say your assumption is true. It's a win-win for the Ron Paul Campaign. The video and song are getting rave reviews and Facebook shares are up over 3300. That is great publicity. Those that are buying the song are in some cases not knowingly donating money to the campaign. These are people that possibly have NEVER donated money to any candidate's campaign, but the song is emotionally making them buy it.
6. We may be gaining new Ron Paul fans just from the song and video alone. These may be people that are not strongly connected to politics but are inspired to look at him a little closer.

RDM explained it all very well above. Working with Golden state seems to be a net positive for Ron Paul regardless of whether golden state are pure hearted Ron Paul supporters doing this with no self interest or not.

That being said I would hope people would focus more on giving to the campaign during the money bomb tomorrow. I think we all want this to generate buzz and create more donations to the campaign rather than take away donations.

This is the most basic coding for a webpage... there are no stylesheets applied, as I figured website owners would want to apply their own colors and text (CSS) to match their site.

This can easily be inserted into any website, between the BODY tags. I will post the code for that (to send to website owners, I am assuming?) once it gets looked over.

This whole thing is all screwed up now because of a few people who tried to sabotage this promotion from the get go. Now you have two separate links to iTunes to purchase the song. One with Ron Paul in the title and the other without. The YouTube has the song listed with the old link and people are now going to promote the new link? So now there are going to be two separate sales tallies by iTunes with people buying from the old link and buying from the new link. Is iTunes going to combine the sales from both links to create one total in sales or separate? If they're separate, the song will never make the charts. This is what happens when you try to make one or two people happy to caress their egos. Rule of thumb. You can never make everyone happy. Goal is to make the majority happy.

Listen. Before, the song did NOT contain Ron Paul in the title.
NOW, the song DOES contain Ron Paul in the title.

It's a philosophical argument about whether Golden State is trying to hype themselves. It doesn't really matter if they are or not.

This project involves getting "Ron Paul" on the itunes charts.

There are 8 Ron Paul songs on itunes. Most people are most excited currently about this song. This song, right now, has the chance to get "Ron Paul" on the itunes chart. And this is what the project is. I have another thread where other "Ron Paul" songs would go on the itunes charts as well. This song is the "point" song, the one that gets pushed onto the charts first.

I think it's a good thing to have "Ron Paul" on the charts. You should too.

Well, mostly. I don't know about "fully". For instance, tomorrow, tea party 11 Ron Paul moneybomb is priority 1.

But, yes, first I was "for" this, then I was "against" this, now I'm "for" this. Based entirely on what my disagreements were. I said the song needed to contain "Ron Paul". Now it does. So, I'm for this.

I'll make some recommendations.

These charts seem to run on 24 hour cycles. You might want to make note of that in your promotion of this. You might want to tell people that you have a 24 hour period where you want to really push hard to get the song on the charts. If you have 5000 people willing to buy the song over a week, you don't get on the charts. If those 5000 people all buy in the same 24 hour period, the song does get on the charts.

You get them to buy in that 24 hour period. And then you PUSH when it appears on the charts. You will want to have a fairly detailed idea of what you're going to want to do when the song does hit the charts. Remember also to look at the genre charts as well. The plan should include screencaps, etc. My own personal plan is to spring into action when I see the song on the charts and the hype that goes with it.

To this point, I really can't tell if this is something that 5 people care about, or 5000 people care about. Based on looking at this, http://goldenstateband.com/ Golden State's official website, and this https://www.facebook.com/GOLDENSTATEBAND it doesn't look like this is the top priority of Golden State. Which makes me think more highly of Golden State, but less highly of the eventual success of this project.

But that's not criticism. I'm not negative about this at this point.

Yep, I can entirely understand where you're coming from there.

I'll make some recommendations.

These charts seem to run on 24 hour cycles. You might want to make note of that in your promotion of this. You might want to tell people that you have a 24 hour period where you want to really push hard to get the song on the charts. If you have 5000 people willing to buy the song over a week, you don't get on the charts. If those 5000 people all buy in the same 24 hour period, the song does get on the charts.

You get them to buy in that 24 hour period. And then you PUSH when it appears on the charts. You will want to have a fairly detailed idea of what you're going to want to do when the song does hit the charts. Remember also to look at the genre charts as well. The plan should include screencaps, etc. My own personal plan is to spring into action when I see the song on the charts and the hype that goes with it.

To this point, I really can't tell if this is something that 5 people care about, or 5000 people care about. Based on looking at this, http://goldenstateband.com/ Golden State's official website, and this https://www.facebook.com/GOLDENSTATEBAND it doesn't look like this is the top priority of Golden State. Which makes me think more highly of Golden State, but less highly of the eventual success of this project.

But that's not criticism. I'm not negative about this at this point.

Please, please, please send Golden State an email about this, cabon-copy in RevPac and bcc in me (I'll PM you my email address). You seem to know what you're talking about.

This whole thing is all screwed up now because of a few people who tried to sabotage this promotion from the get go. Now you have two separate links to iTunes to purchase the song. One with Ron Paul in the title and the other without. The YouTube has the song listed with the old link and people are now going to promote the new link? So now there are going to be two separate sales tallies by iTunes with people buying from the old link and buying from the new link. Is iTunes going to combine the sales from both links to create one total in sales or separate? If they're separate, the song will never make the charts. This is what happens when you try to make one or two people happy to caress their egos. Rule of thumb. You can never make everyone happy. Goal is to make the majority happy.

Fix the problem by putting the link to the new song title.

Pretty simple.

You really shouldn't have been making it easy to download the songs already, because some people might not wait.

If you get everyone to buy the song at the same time, the same minute, you have 24 hours to hype the fact that the song is on the charts.

You anticipate that, and hype the fact that the song IS on the charts, with screen captures. That would mean a lot of hype on 12/24. And hopefully that hype works. Perhaps the hype is so successful that the campaign makes note of it and sends out a facebook or an email including that "Merry Christmas, and by the way, Bombs (The Ron Paul Song) is on the itunes charts, you might want to buy that.

NOW, the song DOES contain Ron Paul in the title.

It's a philosophical argument about whether Golden State is trying to hype themselves. It doesn't really matter if they are or not.

This project involves getting "Ron Paul" on the itunes charts.

There are 8 Ron Paul songs on itunes. Most people are most excited currently about this song. This song, right now, has the chance to get "Ron Paul" on the itunes chart. And this is what the project is. I have another thread where other "Ron Paul" songs would go on the itunes charts as well. This song is the "point" song, the one that gets pushed onto the charts first.

I think it's a good thing to have "Ron Paul" on the charts. You should too.

I care about Ron Paul being the next President of the United States.
If your U-2 knock off was worth it's salt, it would make it's own way on 2 itunes, and you could donate to the Campaign's MoneyBomb, like the rest of us.

I am not Golden State. This isn't my song. This isn't my thread. This is not my project. I did not ask for this thread to be a sticky. I'm not asking anybody to do anything.

If you wanted to, you could read this whole thread to see where I'm coming from.

What I've been doing all year is commenting on projects. If I see a project has some merit (and I think this project does have some merit), I try to steer the specifics of the project to something that would help Ron Paul.

You haven't been looking at my Facebook. Because if you did, you'd see that about half of my content is Ron Paul related, and money bomb day had a lot of me sharing moneybomb stuff.

Most of my comments on this project have been "how does this help Ron Paul if Ron Paul is not in the title?" Those were objections to this project. Now, Ron Paul is in the title. I no longer have objections to this project.

However, you will not see any evidence that I feel this project is extremely important.

I have argued that this project is a waste of time. And I no longer feel that this project is a waste of time.

I have my own thread on this project, where I have listed ALL the Ron Paul songs on itunes. My theory is that once 1 Ron Paul song gets on the itunes charts, the other Ron Paul songs could possibly get on the itunes charts. That, to me, is the possible big score. Some think that we should spend a lot of money buying the Golden State song over and over. My theory is that fans of Jordan Page, Aimee Allen, Paul Trinca, etc will buy all the songs at the same time. And that would be a cool result.

Cool. I mean, you have some valid points. I just wanted to make clear that I wasn't "that guy", even if I was arguing with you before. There's really no reason to attack this project. There's no facepalm wrongness about this project. It does appear that this is a "official campaign" year though. There really hasn't been much in the way of effective "grassroots", separate from the official campaign. That's perfectly fine. Look at the polls. The polls are great compared to last year. An effective official campaign is better than the type of grassroots we had in 2007. In 2007, there were some great things from the grassroots, but some bad things as well. I'm seeing only good, really from the official campaign this year. We haven't invented or popularized money bombs this year. We didn't invent the tea party this year. But we didn't have a bunch of poorly supervised grassroots pelting Hannity with snowballs, and we didn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a blimp.
