If you're on the DNC/Obama email lists, you notice that the other team doesn't bother attacking Newt. This isn't complicated. They worry about Romney. They don't worry about facing Gingrich. (For whatever reason, their knees don't give out at the thought of seven Lincoln-Douglas debates.) Paul... is screwing up the plan.

not sure what they mean by Paul is screwing up the plan. Like he's taking their ammo away?

They want to face Newt in the general election. They want Mitt knocked out. They see Paul as possibly knocking Newt out instead.

They're going to face a bloody battle if it comes down to Paul in the general, though. They're discounting him, but can you imagine how badly he would trounce Obama in a debate?

Paul, in his perpetual quest for second place, is screwing up the plan.

This I really don't get. I've been hearing that Romney's campaign has been slowling down and losing steam recently.

Weigel wrote it. He's extremely snarky and has always claimed to be a Ron Paul supporter, but undermines him at every opportunity.
