I looked up the date that tickets went on sale last year through Campaign for Liberty for CPAC 2011, and it turns out that they were announced around mid-November, November 11 if I remember correctly. Will C4L be providing discounted tickets and hotel rates again this year, or have they decided it is not worth the expense to win the straw poll?

I'm assuming that Campaign for Liberty would be the one to sell the tickets, and not the campaign, because unlike VVS or SRLC, Campaign for Liberty has traditionally had their own set of events that take place during CPAC, and is one of their major pushes in selling tickets, aside from the straw poll.

If anyone else would like to take the initiative to call C4L and ask, here is their number: 703-865-7162

Probably not worth it

This comes at a very distracting time.

Did C4L sell tickets in 2009? I know they didn't in 2008 because they weren't around until June that year, but was wondering if there was any effort made the year after the election.

Why bother? There is a real election to spend time and money winning now.

If Ron Paul has not won 1st in IA and at least one other state before CPAC, it will be over. On the other hand, if Ron Paul has had some early victories, then there will be more than enough money pouring in to make a last minute CPAC push if it looks like a straw poll win could be valuable.

Why bother? There is a real election to spend time and money winning now.Exactly. However the reality is that we don't want anyone else winning the CPAC straw poll.

Exactly. However the reality is that we don't want anyone else winning the CPAC straw poll.

Why? Employ the others strategy against them. Issue a statement from the official campaign well in advance we aren't contesting it and focusing on the real election now. To waste resources on a straw poll at this point is foolish.

This is how I see it too.

The last starw poll we didn't try to win was florida and the media used it as a pushing point to sell cain. Any time we can deprive the media from another "(insert name of dope here) surges to win most important straw poll of the year". I think its worth it plus it would be fun to take over the poll. Plus It might be one of the few straw polls the media would defnitly report. I think its worth a shot.

To waste resources on a straw poll at this point is foolish.Very valid point. But as also pointed out below, do you see what happened at the FL-P5 event where Cain got a surge because he won the straw poll? We want to deny any other candidates the positive media.

I believe its imperative for Ron Paul to win CPAC in 2012. If Ron Paul doesn't win it after winning it 2 years in a row will give the media plenty of ammo to throw at Ron Paul declaring his campaign dead, and Ron Paul on the decline. Ron Paul just a fad, or he didn't bus in people for the straw poll this year because he only has a few supporters. Last year if I wasn't mistaken Ron Paul didn't pour too much resources into last CPAC if any at all and he did great because of his supporters. However expect other candidates to bus in people so it might be a good idea to get as many people there as possible.

Did we ever get a consensus on this? I see the Facebook event has 143 rsvps. It seems like a good idea for any supporters in the northeast for sure.

CPAC is as obsolete as its featured speaker.

Anyone really conservative at heart is already backing Ron Paul.
