Hey folks. I have a special announcement and I'd like for y'all on RPF to be the first to hear it.

WARNING WALL OF TEXT, SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH IF YOU MUST

So I have a certain allegiance to RPF. You guys basically facilitated me becoming the activist that I am today. I discovered Ron in '07 when I stumbled upon the first GOP debate of that cycle. Not long after I found RPF, I hung around as a lurker before finally joining. By the time I joined, and got active in the grassroots campaign, it was too little, too late. Yeah I took a Ronvoy to the Revolution March, yeah I went to the Rally for the Republic. Actually my first claim to fame on RPF, if you can even call it that, was when I started a thread soliciting tent space at Ronstock: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?147592-ATTN-RON-PAUL-CHICKS-i-need-a-tent-to-sleep-in-(not-even-joking-with-this-thread) . I actually wrote up a little review of my MN trip, of which I am slightly more proud: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?153484-shemdogg-s-trip-to-MN-(incu-ronstock-etc.) . I think when I set up that tent thread the community thought I was a troll. Eventually I got to meet Josh and various moderators and they sort of realized I wasn't. So I was given a spot as moderator at the beginning of this calendar year at my request. I wanted the ability to open close and sticky threads. I told Josh that I wanted to part in interpreting the forum's acceptable use policy. I wanted to keep track of the major events that needed to be on all of our calendars, and I wanted to keep track of the events in nearby New Hampshire. Prior to a few months ago I lived down in Mass; more on that later. But I felt obligated to help with the campaign this time around and help out early. I realized that I got active too late last time so this time I felt like I owed it to Ron, liberty, and RPF to invest hardcore early in hopes of reaping greater dividends down the road.

So anyway, I moved up to NH in part to help with the campaign. I don't really have anything to compare it to but the official campaign has been alright but certainly dropped the ball in a few places. I'm not going to go into any details about this here but ultimately I decided to start a PAC to try to help Ron win NH by doing some things that the official campaign, won't or hasn't.

SO....

New Hampshire FOR THE WIN Political Action Committee (NH FTW PAC) is New Hampshire's only grassroots PAC dedicated to Congressman Ron Paul.

you can read more about us here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/NH-FTW-PAC/298351370194463 . I'd like to spend the time here though to very briefly to introduce the board of directors (other than myself ) to you folks here.

I met Kristin at a straw poll back at Saint Anselm's College way back in March. At this time I was driving up to NH from MA to stuff straw poll ballot boxes for RP. She had actually seen me once before; she recognized me as the guy holding signs in the blistering cold outside the very first straw poll of the cycle (according to wikipedia anyways) back in january. Here was me in a photo taken by a journalist with the NY Times, although I don't believe it was ever published: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1382.snc4/163457_1843173325044_1411921517_32097230_986958_n. jpg . Then I saw Kristin again in April. Ron came back to St A's on tax day, 4/15. He didn't go to the tea party tax protests, but I did. I drove up to the state capitol and was featured in the Concord Monitor: http://cmonitor.mycapture.com/mycapture/enlarge.asp?image=35284915&event=1228954&CategoryID=15617 . After a long day in the sun i was fortunate enough to have Kristin save a seat for me at Ron's speech. You can find this speech of his at http://www.c-span.org/Events/Ron-Paul-Speaking-in-New-Hampshire/10737420909-1/ . Someone on RPF made a thread about this and spotted me at the 39:55 mark. Kristin has been organizing and consistently showing up for grassroots events.

I met Leah this summer at Porcfest aka the Free State Project's Porcupine Freedom Festival. Great time btw. Anyways, she was the one who thought to organize a Ron Paul meetup. This meeting unfortunately was not well attended, when you consider how many "activists" were in the area. But many of the folks were anarchists or simply there to party. What I thought was cool though was that Leah somehow managed to get Gary Johnson came to our Ron Paul meeting! Anyways, I did a little cyberstalking later and found out Leah had a few fans online. Someone upped a youtube of her telephone call into CSPAN. Here she's RIPPING the media http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkb7nWq78gw&fb_source=message . Leah has turned out to be one of the most diehard activists I've ever met. And the best persuasive telephone caller I've heard at the campaign HQ.

Anyways, I hope you like our facebook page, share the link, and consider donating.

If you've met me and can vouch for me in this thread and keep it bumped I'd appreciate it. If you have some ideas for boots-on-the-ground grassroots initiatives I'm open to hear them.

Shemdogg is one of the most active activists Ron has. I'd suggest you also send your info to golden state band because the campaign couldn't take their song, and when it goes on itunes soon, they want to donate profits to support Ron. Grassroots (myself included) intend to try to publicize the song.

You're a huge asset to this movement Shemdogg. I remember you worked hard to make Ronstock a reality and for that I'm sure there are plenty of us that are grateful. A lot of us weren't blessed with the resources to accomplish what you've accomplished these past couple years but your hard work keeps us all in shape and willing to volunteer. I wish you success with the PAC. Keep us updated.

Ideas for boots on the ground -

1) have an event or events in bar or bars in the days leading up to the primary. Including the primary day. Free beer? Whatever you can do to bring people in there, getting their contact info.

2) high schools. You should have contact people in the biggest high schools, you should be talking to them, asking them what they think you should do with the money you have to get the kids to vote.

I don't recall offhand the rules about registration. Nothing can be easier than Iowa, where it's same day.

I haven't been able to find a confirmed source where 17 year olds in New Hampshire can vote in the primary. I found a news article from 2009 that said 17 year olds were still not able to vote (source (http://www.concordmonitor.com/article/17-year-olds-wont-vote-in-2012?SESSa45f1a0d3eee61b6899ad5a928d2c56c=google)) .

Can anyone confirm whether or not 17 year olds can vote in the New Hampshire primary?

Good catch. In Iowa, you have to be 18 by election day November 2012. If New Hamshire is different, and you have to be 18 by primary day, that's a big difference.

Project Durham:

http://www.sos.nh.gov/College%20Student%20Voting.pdf

I was just reading the New Hamshires SOS pdf.

Absentee Voting.

We're certainly bummed that the election will take place when the students are with their parents.

However. It appears that students can 1) register to vote where they're going to college. and 2) can vote absentee, because they will not be in college on election day.

So, the goal is to get as many University of New Hampshire students to 1) register and 2) request an absentee ballot.

There is about 2-3 weeks to do this, if it turns out I'm understanding this right.

Yes, this is important. I made a list of all the major NH colleges' winter break schedules. There are many that will not be in session on January 10.

What might be tricky with Operation Durham is getting the documents needed to prove domicile.

If their drivers license is from their parents town, that does not help establish that they go to school in that town.

There are ways to get around this. Other forms, a qualified voter affidavit, a domicile affidavit.

I would guess that there's someone at the University who can help with this.

You also might want to try Dartmouth as well. Smaller school, but politically active, and most of the people there aren't from NH originally.

I'm sure we'll be doing at least one pub crawl before the primary but I'm not so sure the free beer night would provide benefit worth the cost. People would come out I'm sure but I don't know that we would necessarily being drawing the right crowd

As for high schoolers I wonder what youth for Paul is doing doing if anything.

YES, most 17 year olds can certainly vote in the NH primary. One must be 18 on the day of the general election (Nov. 6 2012), NOT the day of the primary.
So anyone born on or before Nov. 6 1994 can vote in the NH Primary. This actually applies to most (maybe all?) of the other primaries and caucuses, certainly also Iowa.
This is confusing because most literature states "18 years of age or older on election day." What you have to understand is that "election day" means the day of the general election as set by the federal government. (see here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Election_Day_(United_States))) The primary is not "election day" - nobody is being legally elected to office, merely vying for party nomination. You could call it "state party preliminary nomination day" if you want. (I say preliminary because the real nomination happens at a state convention months later.)
Regardless, I am very positive that in both Iowa and New Hampshire, this is how the age rules work.

It should also be noted that anyone in NH who is currently unregistered to vote (likely all the 17 year olds in question) CAN REGISTER ON THE DAY OF THE PRIMARY!
Here is some info from the NH secretary of state in regard to these issues: http://www.sos.nh.gov/HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE2012.pdf
(http://www.sos.nh.gov/HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE2012.pdf)Also from the NH GOP: http://www.nhgop.org/pages/detail/51

(http://www.nhgop.org/pages/detail/51)The article which you referenced earlier is in regard to the possibility of 17yr olds voting in the general election (hence, that would mean most 16yr olds could vote in primaries). This does not appear to be going through anytime soon, so for now it all stands as I laid out above.

I just called a town clerk in Concord and the Secretary of State's office and both said that you MUST be 18 years old on January 10 to be able to register to vote and vote in the primary. They were both definitive about their answers.

This means that anyone born on or before January 10, 1994 can vote in the primary.

Edit: I also just received a reply to an email I sent to the Secretary of State's office and it also said you must be 18 years old to vote in the January 10 primary.
