Judging the legitimacy of Chip-ins

Hey guys,

How do you guys judge the legitimacy of chip-ins? Is there a list of proven organizers?

Also, is it true that if I donate more than $5000 then I have to do it through a PAC? In other words, I have to make sure the chip-in organizer is doing it through a PAC? Anyone know the law on this? It seems silly and just an inconvenience.

All of them so far have resulted in detailed threads here with pictures and feedback on what was done for them.

Definitely do some research before you donate to a chipin, but we have a very honest motivated bunch here.
