Now that is a good narrative! "Republican Maverick" hell, that's how McCain got the nom.

The truth of the matter is that he isn't a "maverick".

He supports the constitution. The others are the mavericks who disregard the law.

Maverick sounds nice, but that's not really what he is.

Hm, a "maverick" has certainly gotten the nomination before.

maverick - a lone dissenter, as an intellectual or a politician, who takes an independent stand apart from his or her associates
Synonyms: nonconformist, individualist; free thinker; loner, lone wolf.

Describes him and his foreign policy perfectly within the context of the Republican field.

Ron Paul is the reminder of what once made America the most free and prosperous country in the history of mankind.

He is you. He is me. He is the soul of America.

RP has been called much worse things than a maverick. I'd accept it as a badge of honor.

Wouldn't be the first time he's been called that. I seem to recall that phrases such as "the maverick congressman from Texas" have been used in the past. Personally, I think it has a nice ring to it. It sounds a lot better than "quixotic" or "gadfly" that's for sure.

Btw, no mention of the fact that MSM actually used the correct term - "non-interventionist" - for once?
