I'm tired of the he may be a contender. If they said he is a contender it makes a huge difference.

I don't know.. I didn't really notice. Now that I think of it I think they used the term "real contender"

Or not.. I forget. Hopefully someone caught it and can get it on youtube.

I say it because putting something in a present tense make so much difference in dialogue.

"may be a contender" is just part of the backtracking from "he can't win"
There's gonna be a lot of that going around.

I'd say; "He can't lose", is closer to the truth.
