View Full Version : Debate thread - predict the amount of time Ron will get to speak tonight - prize for winne

Lets have some fun
Predict in seconds how much time Ron will get to speak tonight. To clarify, this is amount of time words are streaming from his mouth, with the exception of back and forth talk (if that happens)
Remember the hosts - Hannity's and the neocons favority - The Heritage Foundation and everyone's favorite cable Channel CNN, as well as AEI
I will research a reasonable source (i.e. youtube highlight video, or do the timing myself from a replay), and whoever gets the closest I will send them a RP2012 bumper sticker by the end of the year.
Start predicting! Feel free to suggest any other rules for the game as well.

On another note, I hope Huntsman also gets plenty of time so we have a voice of affirmation for Ron

I'm going to guess around 7 minutes, give or take 30 seconds. I'm sure CNN isn't going to want to repeat the embarrassment CBS faced, particularly in light of such high polling results from Iowa. Romney, Cain, Gingrich, and Perry will still get more time than Paul.

If we want to do a comparison with the last CBS debate, we would want to guess how much time he gets in the first hour.
Also, if they gang up on Ron, which CNN would love, Ron may get some extra rebuttal time.

That's what I'm thinking. It's well known that his foreign policy is drastically different than everyone else, so if the other candidates want to gang up on him because of that, it would get him more time. It could also mean they just ignore it, though.

This is supposed to be 2 hours, right? That means 120 minutes. Take out 40 minutes for questions and ad breaks, and that leaves us with 80 minutes. With 8 candidates, everyone should get ten minutes.
With that said, I think Ron Paul will get to speak for 7:12, or 432 seconds.

11:53 - 12:45 = 52s
13:13 - 14:52 = 99s

TOTAL TALKING TOTAL = 604 seconds = 10:04
(This is the total actual speaking time, not including people asking questions or other candidates responding: just pure and simple Ron talk time.)
This is for the OP to decide officially, but I'd say it is a toss up between:
TomtheTinker = 590 (09:50) -- 14sec off
jeremiah89 = "about 10 minutes" -- potentially most accurate, but vague
