We are entering a Ron Paul float in Mississippi's largest Christmas Parade on December 3rd. I was wondering what music might be appropriate to play on the float as we pass out super brochures to the crowd?
I thought I would start with RP's favorite BORN FREE!

What is the theme of the float? Is it christmassy or political?

Mississippi may appreciate something a little more down-home, so

Just play something catchy that reaches the widest voter demographic in attendance and isn't counterintuitive.

some upbeat uplifting black gospel music might fit. We're talking about Mississippi here.

Agree. Maybe a patriotic song like "God Bless America" or "America the Beautiful". Think first of the people that will be there. It's middle America types usually, I doubt there are many in the 18-25 demo out there.

Silent Night/7 o'clock news is probably a little 'heavy'...as was another from that era: It's Christmas in Vietnam, But There Isn't Any Snow"
But seriously, if it's going to be pre-recorded, maybe some seasonal music with some of it kids singing. Or see if there are any local supporters with bands who'd like to perform live on the float. A good blue grass group could be all instrumental and still weave holiday music into the mix.
They did an interesting thing at the Detroit Airport one year: they had Christmas Karaoke. I paid a few dollars and sang. The money went to a Detroit charity. You could have a few mics hooked up to the float and have people sing along with carols and stuff. Either RP volunteers walking with the float or people from along the way. Sort of a freedom to sing thing.
