A very effective way to Promote Ron Paul is a simple change of your wireless routers name. It's free for you and it promotes throughout your neighborhood. Simply type in http://192.168.1.1 into your web browser. Go to wireless settings and change Name (SSID): to something like Like "Vote Ron Paul 2012" Now everyone that's in range will see this when trying to connect to a wireless network either with their computer or other device. If you own a business, this is a great way to get tons of people to see it as well. Ask your local coffee shop owner or other businesses if they are supporting Ron Paul and if so, let them in on Changing their free Wireless Routers name.

Hope you like this idea.

I like the idea but it would be a pain for me to do it cause of all the wireless devices, Printer phone ect, that are floating around my house.

One possible solution:
Many of the newer routers offer a "guest" network feature.
If so, you can enable it, changing the name to promote Ron Paul.
Even though the guest network is more restricted; still be sure to set up
security on it.

If your present router does not offer a guest network, here is another idea:

I would guess most here have an old wireless router or two around
from past upgrades from 11b or even 11g.

Note:
If you choose to do it this way, it may be best to connect directly
to the router you're configuring independent of your home network
to avoid any conflicts during configuration.

Just set the router up on a channel other than that of your present network,
making sure it is set to broadcast the SSID (normally the default setting).
Remember to set the SSID (network name) to your message to promote Ron Paul.
If you have the extra equipment and some time,
you can even run a web server on that independent network
serving pro Paul articles, videos and other content.

just saw this thread... just wanted to explain, you only need to change your wireless router, the point where your printer, phone, pc, etc connects...

but great idea OP! Every little bit helps

In many cases your idea would save time and work fine.

Many client devices are configured to point to a specific network name.
If that is the case and you lose connectivity, you will still need to reconfigure those devices
or see my previous post for a possible work around.

Love this idea! Very creative and simple to do. We all should do this. I can see my neighbors networks and there's something like 20 within range. So let's just say that most people have 10 within range. The odds are good that we can influence people to at least take a look at what Congressman Paul has to say.

I think it takes a lot of us doing a lot of things. Doing what we can. Thanks for this idea!

My router has been "Randslide" since 2011.
