Unbelievable. Riot cops pepper spray 20 students seated peacefully on the ground. The crowd comes to their defense and forces a squad of fully armed riot cops to leave the campus. The fear in the cops faces as they do so is priceless... this is getting real.

I think this has been real for some time now. That was certainly brutal what they did with the pepper spray. Is there a larger context to frame this in? Why were the people seated sprayed and not the surrounding crowd? What was the protest about? OWS?

they set up a few tents and wouldn't take them down.

the university's chancellor called the riot cops onto campus.

the cops went just a tad bit overboard what with the point blank pepper spraying dontcha think?

Ironically, they were protesting police brutality used at UC Berkeley the previous week. Supposedly they sprayed the ones on the ground because they had circled the police officers with linked arms, although clearly they posed no threat. The Chancellor who had ordered the police to come in the first place to stop the peaceful protest is now being pressured to resign.

They were chanting "You use violence, we use words".

Incredibly powerful. They literally willed the police off their campus.

What, you didn't know the job of the riot squad was to cause riots? How d'ya think they got the name?

Does that matter?

Is there something particular that is not covered by the First Amendment, that would justify violent police response to peaceful protests.

The BEST line at 7:04, "none of you is getting a pension". Hell yeah! If OWS could follow through, this could be a great line of taunts. "WHO DO YOU WORK FOR?"

wow...students protest the UC Davis chancellor as she exits the building. Quite clever...they make her run the gauntlet while sitting as passively and peacefully as the students who were maced in the face.
